I downloaded the following file from mysql.com. mysql-3.23.47-sun-solaris2.8-sparc.tar
I untarred it into /mysql, then I have the following files. Look here: # ls bin include scripts sql-bench tests data lib share support-files # Then I went into /mysql/bin and tried running mysql like so: # mysql ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) # And I get the error message shown above.
