I had similar problems that I never successfully tracked down (see the
archives). I took the box (SS40G) out of service as a MythTV unit for
a while. Recently, I decided to give it a fresh start and everything
seems to be working perfectly now. While I was experiencing the
problem I found that running MythTV within gdb allowed everything to
run without lockup.

[mythtv-users] Upgrade to 0.18 problem

2005-05-11 Thread Jamin W . Collins
I recently tried to upgrade my MtyhTV installation to the new 0.18
Debian packages. The packages seemed to install fine but now the
backend won't start and I get the following error in the backend log:

QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty

2005-05-11 13:07:31.521 Setting Lock for Database Schema upgrade. If
you see a long pause here it means the Schema is already locked and is
being upgraded by another Myth process.

didn't find anything.

trimmed the lockup file as the last lines just kept repeating in it
and it became rather large quickly.
No one else has seen these errors, or knows of possible solutions?

The issues I'm seeing so far are:
- B&W playback of videos and DVDs (when using xine)
- inability to watch Live or Recorded TV (unless running MythTV inside
gdb)

[mythtv-users] Issues with MythTV on an SS40G

I have an SS40G running just fine with MythTV.
I seem to remember that the TV output format is to be set from within
the
BIOS? Have you selected a proper setting? This could have influence on
your

The B&W output is only from within xine and only when running it under
the mythtv user. Even in this situation, the MythTV interface is in
full color and xine is in full color when run as my user.

What distribution are you using on the system? Would you be willing to
compare some application versions and configurations?
