Re: [mythtv-users] Playback locks up mythfrontend

I hear a few seconds of sound, a black picture and then lockup. actually the whole interface locks up. I cannot switch between apps. I can still ssh into the box from my laptop, so I can see that the backend is still running. I had similar problems that I never successfully tracked down (see the archives). I took the box (SS40G) out of service as a MythTV unit for a while. Recently, I decided to give it a fresh start and everything seems to be working perfectly now. While I was experiencing the problem I found that running MythTV within gdb allowed everything to run without lockup. -- Jamin W. [mythtv-users] Upgrade to 0.18 problem
I recently tried to upgrade my MtyhTV installation to the new 0.18 Debian packages. The packages seemed to install fine but now the backend won't start and I get the following error in the backend log: QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty 2005-05-11 13:07:31.513 New DB connection, total: 1 2005-05-11 13:07:31.521 Setting Lock for Database Schema upgrade. Even in this situation, the MythTV interface is in full color and xine is in full color when run as my user. What distribution are you using on the system?
