Re: [mythtv-users] FYI How to get Dell 2405FPW LCD to work with DVI

2005-10-29 Thread Jeremy Thompson
If you look at the site for the monitor

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4221&link_number=

it does list cards that are compatible with the monitor.  Albeit
windows drivers, or the dell driver.  So if you guys found a way
to do this in Linux without haveing to use one of thier specific cards
please let me know, or give me a link to read up on how.

Thanks

Yes (without the trailing slash). That's what mine has. MySQL can handlemultiple databases, so datadir is set to where all the databases are.Each database (like "mythconverg") then has its own subdirectory under
that.--Greg___mythtv-users mailing list

2005-10-03 Thread Jeremy Thompson

Not really sure what you are meaning by that.

mythconverg is what I named the database to be when I set it up with the
following directions found at

http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php#mysql (fedora guy)-

$ mysql -u root -p < /usr/share/doc/mythtv-0.18.1/database/mc.sql
(enter the password you just set above when prompted)

Just check in var/lib/mysql/mythconverg and it's full of .MYI&D files.

should I change the cnf to

datadir=/var/lib/mysql/

[mythtv-users] Mythtv - database; MySQL good - Myth Lost -

2005-10-03 Thread Jeremy Thompson

ALL,
I got MySQL running at startup, point to the mythconverg database. Here
is my.cnf:

Here is my.cnf:
[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql/mythconverg
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
skip-innodb

[mysql.server]
user=mysql
basedir=/var/lib
key_buffer = 16M
table_cache = 128
sort_buffer_size = 2M
myisam_sort_buffer_size = 8M
query_cache_size = 16M

[safe_mysqld]
err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
I also had to change my startup script in rc.d to point to this database.
It's running now

However now Mythtv can't find the database -

mythtv log display
2005-10-02 12:44:27.991 Unable to connect to database!
2005-10-02 12:44:27.992 Driver error was [1/1049]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:
Unknown database 'mythconverg'
mysql log dispaly
/usr/libexec/mysqld: ready for connections
It sends me to database config each time. Root and password are correct. I
have tried each of the entries in my hosts table

hosts table
127.0.0.1 mythtv localhost.localdomain localhost
I have used the IP, mythtv, and localhost, not loca...doman, in the
database config. Same

error as above.

At a bit of a loss.

Nick,
Thanks for reply. That is about what I thought. Though I didn't think it
would be that easy. I guess I would map my video add-on to it?

What about the other TV stuff? Would I still have to populate all that?

THanks

[mythtv-users] MythTV - without the TV

2005-10-02 Thread Jeremy Thompson

ALL,
I am working on a box and have a couple of other threads going. But was
wondering -

I am not going to be watching live TV on my box. I am in Germany (USA
Military - great country) and don't have/want sat or cable TV. The shows
that I want to watch are going to be DL via torrent.

Questions -

Do I have to populate and configure all the channel info? Possible to
skip?

How do I get my shows to appear so I can DL them? They will be on a
different computer on my network.

Thank you.

[mythtv-users] MySQL start up problem - solved

ALL,
Ok, did some more digging. I was checking the mysql list and guides this
whole time as well. Figured it out. For some reason the startup script in
rc.d/init was pointing to the wrong database. Pointed it the right way and
it starts fine now.

However now Mythtv can't find the database -

mythtv display

[mythtv-users] RE: mythtv-users Digest, Vol 33, Issue 4

2005-10-02 Thread Jeremy Thompson

Paul,
I didn't see your reply till I did an archive search.

Here is my.cnf:
[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql/mythconverg
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
skip-innodb

[mysql.server]
user=mysql
basedir=/var/lib
key_buffer = 16M
table_cache = 128
sort_buffer_size = 2M
myisam_sort_buffer_size = 8M
query_cache_size = 16M

[safe_mysqld]
err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid

I edited it to look more like yours. All the options I moved down to the
[mysql.server] . I added the skip-innodb after some trial and error.

I added tried a few more things and am now getting this error:

/usr/libexec/mysqld: Table 'mysql.host' doesn't exist

So mysql exits. I am not sure where/when this table is generated.

I followed Jarod's FC3 directions exactly with a fresh install of FC3.
While I am not a Linux guru by any means, I have been using it since 99 - so
I can get around, and know how not to do stupid things. Except break a
running database.

Here's mc.sql in the mythtv folder in usr, seems right.

CREATE DATABASE mythconverg;
GRANT ALL ON mythconverg.* TO IDENTIFIED BY "mythtv";
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
GRANT CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES ON mythconverg.* TO
IDENTIFIED BY "mythtv";

FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

Not sure where else to look.

Thanks for help

[mythtv-users] MySQL start up problem

2005-09-19 Thread Jeremy Thompson

Hello all,
Been breaking Linux for awhile now. Followed Jarod's FC guide to the
letter. Worked fine a few days ago. I loaded the LIRC for my ATI All in
Wonder and it 'works'. However, now the database won't start at all.

Here's some info I could think to provide:
mythtv]# /sbin/service mysqld status
mysqld dead but subsys locked
Start, restart, and stop all fail. Just for grins I try to start
mythbackend below.
mythtv]# mythbackend &
[1] 4987
mythtv]# 2005-09-19 20:18:41.280 New DB connection, total: 1

2005-09-19 20:18:41.283 Driver error was [1/2002]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:

2005-09-19 20:18:41.284 Failed to init MythContext, exiting.

[1]+ Exit 255mythbackend
I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Or if there is a known
fix that would work fine too. On a side note, I am not going to watch TV
with my mythbox, at least not till I get back in the states. I only want to
use it to watch shows I download.

Thanks for your time.
