[mythtv-users] HD firewire capture from Scientific Atlanta 3250
I'm looking to setup my Scientific Atlanta 3250 to capture to my FC3 MythBox, and I'm wondering two things. 1. I need to get some more of firewire interface added to my machine. I read on Jarod's Guide that the SoundBlaster Audigy with fire wire works great. I'm curious if anyone else has any experience with this card in Myth. Are you able to get 5.1 output, as well as capture from your HD box with it? And if so, which model is the best one to get. I would like to get the most basic model that willl achieve 5.1 sound as well as firewire interface. 2. Are you able to change channels on the 3250 through Firewire? Or do you use an IR blaster? I had some experience with IR blasters on Tivo years ago, and i had a few problems with missed codes and such. Obviously, I would like to change channels through Firewire to eliminate this issue. Thank for any input anyone can give. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] http://192.168.1.51:6544 should say something
Is this a frontend only machine that you're trying to access the backend with? If so: 1: you have to go into 'mythtvsetup' on the backend and set the IP of the backend to the actually IP (like 102.168.1.x) instead of 127.0.0.1 2. you have to tell the backend to accept remote connections from other frontends. Jarod has a nice snippet on his guide on how this is accomplished at http://www.wilsonet.com/mythtv/tips.php (look for Remote Frontends). Hope this helps. [mythtv-users] Video Card Suggestions for DVI/HDMI Output
I recently purchased a Toshiba 52" DLP television, and I'm now interested in upgrading the quality of the MythTV Display. I'm currently using the Svideo out on my Chaintech mother board with the nividia mx440 on board. I would like to use either the HDMI or component input on my new television. What would be the suggestion for doing this output. Would it be beneficial to use the HDMI input as opposed to the Component input? If I use the HDMI input, what would be a good video card to purchase that is compatible with the HDMI input (I'm assuming that I would want to get a video card with DVI output and use a converter to HDMI). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm soon going to be recording and displaying HD recordings, as well as want the upscaling of the DVD video. Thank you. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] Sounds woes, FC3 Install using Jarod's Guide
I'm currently stuck at the sound part of Jarod's guide. I think it's a simple problem, but here it is. I can't seem to get sound from the computer. I think it has something to do with the settings you have to turn on and off in Kmix. I seem to remember having to do something to the IEC settings in my old FC2 install. I'm currently using the Chaintech board with nvidia sound. I was wondering if someone with this same sound setup could let me know what settings they have checked/unchecked in kmix so that I can get past this step with alittle more ease. I've tried every combination I can think of, and still the test sound doesn't make sound. I know it's playing, because I get no error, but no sound comes from the speakers. Thanks in advance. I have been using Myth for about 9 months, and it has been a very good thing in my life. [mythtv-users] Backend crashes after a few minutes of running
I have been running a successful FC2 install of Myth for about 4 months now. Just recently, the backend has been crashing just a few minutes after restarting the service. Where is the best place to look for clues as to why the backend is crashing so frequently? I'm figuring it is due to some change that I have made in the recent weeks that is causing it, but I don't know where to start looking for clues. This system ran flawlessly for about 3 months before I started having any problems with it. Thank in advance.
