Dennis- You can modify the video bitrate to a higher number if you like. The default settings that are included in MythStreamTV are for streaming over your broadband connection. So if you are on a lan, by all means pump up the VBR. Is the file your trying to stream Nuppel video or MPEG 2? What type of tuner card do you have? I've seent this once before. It looks like your /var/tmp/STREAMSTOP may already exist and belong to root. Try removing the file to resolve that issue. Enable verbose debugging in the mythstreamtv.sh file by adding -vvv. That may shed some light on why your having problem connecting.
