[mythtv-users] setting password for settings*.php only

2005-05-03 Thread Kees van
Hi,

I like to add some access control to the settings section of MythWeb.
I figured out how to set Apache to require a password on a specific
directory, however, the settings*.php files are located in the mythweb
root.

Is it possible to configure .htacces file-specific?

Thanks,
Martijn

[mythtv-users] video output @ 48 Hz

2005-04-28 Thread Kees van
Hi all,

recently I hooked my mythtv machine up to my Infocus 4805 projector. I
found a modeline which produces 848x480 @ 48Hz. The only thing is when
KDE starts it seems to use the configuration that I set within the
graphical UI of desktop configuration (rightclick the desktop and then
configure desktop). After inserting that modeline in xorg.conf I was
able to choose 848x480 (the resolution of the modeline) within that
desktop configuration but, and here's the thing I don't get, I can
only pick a refresh rate of 60Hz. Does anyone know how I can change
this into 48Hz (the one of the modeline)??

Thanks in advance,

Kees.

Re: [mythtv-users] Can't get rid of "prebuffering pause" messages

2005-04-18 Thread Kees van Bemmel
I had similar issues... I did 2 things:

1. make sure the capture resolution is set correctly, by default it's
set to 480x480 I believe. I changed that to 720x576 (not sure... PAL
resolution anyway). You can find these settings in your frontend...
LiveTV recording profiles of your capture card.

2. I turned down the bitrate of the recordings and livetv a little bit
(I believe I now have them set at 4000 with a max of 5000). These can
be found at the same recording profile settings.

Play around with them a little... let us know how it turned out, maybe
I have some other settings that can be of use.

Kees.

Don't know a lot about XvMC. I do know you could try nvidia driver
7174 (I believe those are the latest now). They work for me, even
though 6629 didn't work at all! At least it won't pin you down to
2.6.9.

Too bad that those only have one monitor attached. I've been looking
for a decent working configuration with a vga monitor AND a tv monitor
attached at the same time.

Which brings me to another question:
Would it be possible to have those 2 monitors output different
resolutions at the same time?

Thanks.

[mythtv-users] Immediate Live TV freeze (myth 0.17, jarod's guide)

2005-04-07 Thread Kees van Bemmel
Hi all,

just when I thought I had everything working I shut down my pc. After
a reboot I can't get Live TV to work anymore, even though it worked
flawlessly before! All it does now is freeze after 1 second and the
terminal syas Prebuffering Paus (only once). The strange thing is I
don't see the OSD coming up, while before the first thing I saw was
the OSD.

Does anyone have similar issues?

[mythtv-users] Jarod's Guide and Nvidia 6629 driver with FX5200

2005-04-06 Thread Kees van Bemmel
First off, sorry for this slightly off topic post, but I really don't
have a clue as to how to solve this.

I installed FC3 following Jarod's guide (great guide btw, thanks
Jarod), but I got stuck with installing the latest nvidia drivers for
my FX5200 card. I know for sure that this card worked before running
FC2 and some older version of the driver, but now with 6629 all I get
is the Nvidia logo, which doesn't go away! I do see a mouse cursor
though which moves. Disabling the logo just results in a black screen
with some rubbish.

Does anyone have the same symptoms? Or better yet, does anyone have
ANY idea of how to solve this?

Thanks in advance,

Kees.

[mythtv-users] external stb newbie

2004-12-05 Thread Kees van Bemmel
Hi,

I've been running mythtv .16 for a while now and it's absolutely
great. The thing is that I just got digital television with an
external settop box which I want to be able to record as well of
course. Does anyone know where to start? And can it be done? I read
something about LIRC transmitting signals, emulating a remote
control??! And how do I record shows? Can I use the tv-in on one of my
PVR-250's?

Thanks for any help in advance.

PS to give you an idea how I started... I used Jarod's guide and my
knowledge of linux/mythtv has improved a bit but I'm still a newbie
