Re: [mythtv-users] MythTV w/Digital Cox Service ?
I've read that you can rig up one of those infared remote things from the computer to the digital box to control the channels. My PVR250 came with one of those cables with an ir blaster to do this...you might do some searching for that...and I'm sure people on the list do this with both digital cable and satellite. I've also heard some digital boxes can be controlled by a serial cable and maybe even firewire too... Do a little google searching on those terms...should give you a start.. Re: [mythtv-users] MythTV On Gentoo - Thoughts and Questions
I've just emerged everything. Worked great on my 0.15 install...trouble was...the box was too weak. I've built another box...emerged everything for 0.16. All is working fine except no sound on TV capture or live...I'm troubleshooting that. The ebuilds for ivtv are built on gentoo for the PVR 250/350...and worked just fine last time...just a couple of settings I'm guessing I've got to do this time.. Did you use emerge to do the job, did you have trouble later patching and compiling addons or other programs to make MythTV the best it could..? I used the CVS just before 0.17 came out and the ebuilds when it was released. The ebuilds were a no-brainer to setup. There are some USE flags that you need for stuff like nuvexport and ffmpeg that I haven't seen documented anywhere (aac, threads and another that I don't recall right now), but other than that, no problems. Most other sundry files are in portage - it's possible that there's something missing but I haven't found anything. There's been no real need for any config file management issues (MythTV has just one config file AFAIK and you normally edit it through mythsetup, the rest is in the database). / Rickard Olsson,IT-Konsult/ / Telefon: +46 70 635 01 42/ / http://www.webhackande.se/ ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] Hauppauge 401 or PVR 250?
I'm not familiar with the 401, but, the 250 had hardware compression which is nice for taking a load off your cpu... Drivers for this card via ivtv are pretty good... Some people say that 401 is much easier to setup while the 250 can sometimes have issues. I'm relatively new when it comes to Linux (ie: I'm not going to be editing source code anytime soon etc). So basically I wanted to know which card is better. I'm not going to be trying to do anything too fancy with this box, just watch live tv pause it and record shows every so often. The box I'll be running it on is a 1.7ghz p4 with 768rdram and a soundblaster live. The 401 card seems to be about 50$ cheaper then the 250 but if the 250 is what I need to get the job done right then I'll go for that. Hello..thanks for the reply. I've seen someone else is posting with same type problemswith same advice. I'm using a gentoo distro... I went to /etc/modules.d/aliases, and added the suggested line. I did modules-update command...and this indeed put the line in my /etc/modules.conf However, I still get picture but, no sound when playing directly from mplayer (mplayer /dev/video0), nor with mythtv. Have I missed something else...would this require a computer reboot or is there another command to refresh a process this affects? Thanks in advance.. Re: [mythtv-users] SPDIF output works for MythMusic, but not MythTV
I'm a little confused...and this may be part of my problem I'm having with my pvr 250. I thought you didn't have to jumper the sound from the pvr card to your audio card? I'd tried myth before on an older box, but, didn't have to physically connect the cards to get sound from tv and music. Has this changed? Could this be why I get sound from music, but, no sound/only video from tv recordings or live? Also, what exactly is spdif?
