[mythtv-users] Sound Levels of MythTV Recordings Very Low

2005-01-13 Thread Kyle Duncan
I'm having problems with the sounds levels of my MythTV recordings.
My sound card (built in to my motherboard based on VIA82C686) is
hooked up to my TV via a miniplug - RCA. When I watch a recording I
have to crank the volume on my TV (Sony KV36XBR400) to a few bars
below max to hear the recording and of course I get a lot of hiss from
the speakers. I tried loading up Alsa Mixer and increased the sliders
for PCM, Line Out and Master and this helped a bit, but they reset
when my computer rebooted and it wasn't a huge difference. In windows
I usually only set these sliders to about 70% and have no volume
issues. Is there any where else I can play with the sound levels? I
saw somewhere in the MythTV configs a setting for recording volume but
I believe it was already at 90% by default.

Anyways, I'd appreciate any help / suggestions.

Thx.

[mythtv-users] Hauppauge 250 Remote Control Doesn't Work With AutoStartUp of Myth

2005-01-10 Thread Kyle Duncan
I've configured Myth based on Jarod Wilson's guide using FC2. I can't
seem to get the remote control to work automatically when I configure
automatic startup. The auto startup works find and I can navigate and
use myth using the keyboard, but if I want to use the remote I have to
shut down the Myth Front end, open up a terminal and log in as root
and:

# /sbin/depmod -a
# /sbin/modprobe lirc_i2c
# /sbin/service lircd start

After I do that and restart the frontend the remote works fine.
According to Jarod's guide all I need to do to start lircd at startup
is

/sbin/chkconfig lircd on.

Is there anything else I need to do. Is there a way to check that the
above command is working?

Thx.

[mythtv-users] Radeon 8500 TV Out Not Working

2004-12-19 Thread Kyle Duncan
I've got everything working happily on my Myth Box as long as it is
going out to my monitor. However when I try and hook up the S-Video
from the Radeon 8500 to my Sony 36 XBR400 I get a scrambled mess. I
can see the text OK but once it goes to the GUI I just get a mess.
I'm guessing this is a driver issue but I'm not sure what to do, I've
installed the drivers for the Radeon 8500 based on the info at:

http://www.fedorafaq.org/fc2/#radeon

I've installed everything according to the guide for FC2 from
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv and everything works on my computer which
is a AMD 1200 with Radeon 8500.

Any suggestions?

Thx.
