[mythtv-users] Re: Bottom half of video blips
I'm actually still using an ivtv 0.3x (0.3.8, I believe) version, though I don't know how different it is from 0.4. Which exact version of ivtv 0.4 are you folks each running? Thanks... Me too. I've also been getting situations where the video freezes but the audio keeps going, and when I skip-back and replay the same section it doesn't happen the second time around. These problems are all show-specific -- if a show has bad playback then it will always have bad playback even though others are fine. I suspect the ivtv 0.4 driver may be at fault for the blips on the bottom half of the display but don't know how to prove or disprove it. The playback problems are probably caused by MythTV tripping over flaws in the recording, and rewinding by 5 seconds reinitializes the stream. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] Bottom half of video blips
Using Gentoo and MythTV SVN both updated in October '05 with a PVR250 and standard analog Comast Cable. OK - I don't know the best way to describe this, but recently (within the past month) I am getting a 'random jump / skip / blip / pixelation /blur / whatever you want to call it' on the bottom half of the screen of my recordings. It lasts less than a second and is only a visual annoyance (you don't really miss anything) and doesn't mess up the sound. It occurs on all stations from what I can tell. I don't watch a lot of live tv, but I haven't seen it so far through that. I can't figure out what could be causing this. I hadn't made any updates since this started occuring (at least that I can recall, unless this had been occuring since the update and my memory is shoddy). Any ideas? Thanks... I'm planning on moving out the entertainment center this weekend to paint behind it anyway. I'll try swapping cables with the cable that's currently plugged directly into the TV, which is not having any problems. What do you mean by a 'VHF-tuning problem'? I realize it's just your speculation, but do you mean something on the myth side of things possibly? If so, what could I look at? Could this be signal degradation, even though it's only my myth box and these channels that have the problem? I do have the cable split in multiple places in the house. Thanks all for the replies... [mythtv-users] Fuzzy and Wavy Local Channels
Lately (within the past month) all my local stations from 13 on down are fuzzy or wavy and getting worse. Two stations, 6 ABC and 3 CBS are major static and not watchable. All cable (non-local) chanlls which all start above 13 are just fine. Cable : Philly, PA USA Comcast Analog (no box) MythTV build : SVN from mid October IVTV : one of the stable '4' releases I've tried tweaking frequencies from info found in a few posts, but that just made it worse. I do not have this problem on any other TV in the house. My system is becoming unusable, if anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks. I flipped through the setup menu, where abouts is the 'auto tuning' located? [mythtv-users] Static on One Channel
For whatever reason starting about a week ago my recordings from 6 ABC Philly are all staticy (not snow, just majorly static picture). All other stations are fine. I'm using non-digital Comcast cable. 6 ABC comes in fine on all the other TVs, just not through the MythTV box. I'm using myth from svn as of about a month ago. I guess it's some sort of frequency issue, but I'm not really sure what to enter for the 'finetune' field in mythweb or even how that field works. Anyone have any thoughts? It sucks not getting 'Lost'... -Matt ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

My system has correct time (I run ntpdate every day at 5:30AM) and I believe the correct timezone (EDT for me), and I just re-ran a mythfilldatabase with the --refresh-today switch only and all times are still off an hour for every of the 12 day's listings (including today). I'm not sure what to try next - Do I need to clear all the data from the DB and then run another - not sure if that will be of any use. I've never had that occur - MythVideo/MPlayer/Myth all work fine w/ lirc under KDE. There's never been any focus issues. Maybe I'm missing what you're refering to. Re: [mythtv-users] xorg.conf & 27" analog TV
Dan Littlejohn wrote: I have got my tv out display working pretty well, but it still has an odd problem that I cannot solve. When I am in the window manager (evilWM) or Myth the display has a pin cushion effect, which I expect is because I have a 10 year old analog TV. However, what I am concerned about is that when I am using just the window manager, about a minute after X starts, the display begins to have large blobs on the screen and it will lock up. It looks like the screen is being burnt which is obviously no good. I have tried different resolutions and other settings, but the problem persists.
