Re: [mythtv-users] Using MythTV as a non-TV recording device

2005-12-23 Thread Matt Lane
I am doing something similar for my church.  I have a Mythtv
system build to record all of the services and then we burn them (with
the myth box) to DVD for members to purchase.

Yes it is over kill but it works well.  I can manually set a
recording so the tech guys don't have to worry about a thing.  We
don't do any editing so that is not a concern (yet).

I considered using a whole host of progs on Linux but most of the
editing progs have issues with large files.  My research is a few
months dated so I don't know if that has been addressed.  Still,
having the ability to schedule a recording and then have everything
cataloged in Mythtv works very well for us.

[mythtv-users] No sound since upgrade

2005-03-26 Thread Matt Lane
I have put this on the back burner for a long time but now I need to
get it working.

Ever since I upgraded to .17 I have no sound coming into MythTV. I
had it working in .16. Whenever I view live tv, I get no sound. I
can playback other video that I previously ripped and get sound
without a problem. I don't get sound with just Mplayer either.

If I run /usr/bin/aplay /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav it works no problem.

Are there any other tests I can run?

I have been through Jarod's site and searched all over but haven't
found my problem answered.

I am running FC3 64.

Thanks for your help.

Re: [mythtv-users] Mythtv on x86_64 SMP

2005-01-17 Thread Matt Lane
I have MythTV running on my 3500+ (single) on FC3took quite a long
time. I think I started in October! I don't have the following
installed or working yet:

1. Mythmusic
2. Mythphone
3. Burning files to DVD
4. Mythweb...

I installed from individual pieces...meaning not from the
mythTV-suite. I did it one thing at a time in the end it it all
worked. I had loads of MySQL problems and had to upgrade to 4.x which
introduced other issues becuase of upgrading.

I still have php-mysql issues and it is driving me nuts. I am a nubie
to both Linux and MythTV so...well you can imagine my pain. I work in
the IT field so I have the background but this was a new animal for
me.

I am tempted to ghost the box and reinstall becuase I have a lot of
weird dep errors but...tracing my steps might be very time consuming
too.

I upgrade my kernal recently...bad idea. Now I don't have sound.
Need to get that fixed tonight. (hopefully)

Let me know if you have specific questions and I'll try to figure out
how I got it done.

[mythtv-users] SUCCESS!! Finally got MythTV working on FC3...except remote

2004-12-30 Thread Matt Lane
I am a newbie on Mythtv and it has been a long time on Linux. It has
taken me many weeks staying up lateAnyway I was finally able to
record through my s-video tonight.

My question is, my remote only works if I start the mythfrontend as
root which of course I don't want to do on a regular basis.

Any thoughts?

I am running FC3 64/AMD64, with a PVR-250.

Thoughts?

[mythtv-users] Watching from s-video

2004-12-24 Thread Matt Lane
When I try to "watch tv" and I have the input connections set to
s-video, I am getting a black screen and these errors on the terminal:

2004-12-24 22:55:06 Unexpected response to MYTH_PROTO_VERSION:
2004-12-24 22:55:06 Changing from None to None

Any thoughts? I want to record exclusively from the s-video and I am
getting a solid a/v stream when I run the following from the terminal:
 /usr/lib/ivtv/ptune-ui.pl & mplayer /dev/video0

Thanks for any help.
