I'm not sure about that. I only have one tuner and it always happens on
the same channels. It doesn't only happen the first time I watch a

[mythtv-users] Looking for show preview PNG's in themes default dir?

2005-06-06 Thread Rob Rosenfeld
I am running CVS as of 6/5. For the past month or so, I have noticed
the output similar to the following from mythfrontend after browsing
recorded programs.

Unable to find image file:
/usr/share/mythtv/themes/default/1032_2005060611000_2005060612.nuv.png

I use /usr as my prefix. These look like the file names for the preview
clips you see while browsing recordings. I've always found these files
in the directory with the recorded programs and the ringbuffer. Have I
configured something wrong that it's looking for them in the themes area?

[mythtv-users] First Time Playing Recorded Show Always Fails

2005-06-05 Thread Rob Rosenfeld
I'm running current CVS on the HEAD branch. The first time I try to
watch any recording, I get a black screen for maybe 5 minutes, then I
get the prompt that usually shows up after a show ends offering three
choices if I want to delete or keep the episode. If I tell it to keep
it and try again it plays immediately. How do I get it to play
correctly on the first attempt?

[mythtv-users] Waited too long for decoder to pause

2005-01-21 Thread Rob Rosenfeld
I'm running CVS as of 1/14 and sometimes at the end of a recording,
mythfrontend hangs. I'm using XV to output using Nvidia's drivers.
When I kill the mythfrontend application, I find the console has many
error messages repeated:

Waited too long for decoder to pause
In the gossamerthreads archives the only recent thread on this indicates
that it should be corrected in CVS. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

last update, once a recording starts, audio is dead on the entire
system. For example, today I had a scheduled recording. I was
watching a show and I clicked the [sic] go ahead and record prompt.
The recording started properly, but there was no audio. Now that the
recording's done, I still have no audio. It just isn't Myth, but no

looking?

Well, I got no response, but have isolated this problem further, and am
more convinced it has to do with MythTV. I have rebuilt MythTV against a
few ALSA (1.05, 1.06, 1.07, and 1.08) and ivtv (0.2.0-rc3 and 0.3.2)
versions. I wish I could be more clear, but here's the behavior I
observe. Sometimes (I can't see why it's not always since I record
everything with the same settings) when I play a recording sound
disappears. This can be either when I go via media library or as above,
when I watch while recording. As above, sound is dead for all apps and
users on my system. However, if I play a small MPEG with mplayer
outside MythTV it seems to reset the sound.

I am configured to use ALSA:default for sound out.

Does this prod any further thoughts?

I wonder if the recent sound codebase updates have done something to the
init/deinit of the sound code?

I am sure this is entirely possible, but is LIRC easy to setup in this

USB-serial convertor known to work under Linux (FC2/FCx etc) that should
give me the least problems. (or do they either all work the same or not at

I use a USB-UIRT ( lirc patch at http://www.gemair.com/~neveld/ ) to
receive and a serial MyBlaster to xmit.

Run another output from the cable box directly to another input
on the TV. For instance, I run s-video from STB to MythTV then
coax from STB to cable on my TV. I use this mostly for comparing
picture quality and characteristics but you may find this useful
for interacting with the box.
Well I could do this, but I was hoping for a solution that let me

[mythtv-users] Cable Video on Demand and MythTV

2004-12-26 Thread Rob Rosenfeld
Hey all, I've got my Myth install pretty stable and am looking to
polish it off. I'm in the US and have digital cable. I'm using a
PVR-250 and an IR blaster to capture s-video from the cable box. One of
the features it offers is Video on Demand. I tune to one channel and
pick from a list of movies that start when I select them. To use it I
need to interact with menus on my cable box. This is difficult via
Watch TV with the buffer delay.

Has anyone out there got a MythTV config that deal with channels of this
type?

1) Is there a passthrough mode where I can watch live cable input
without the buffering?
2) Is there a way I could have Myth interpret key presses differently
when on certain channels? For instance, when on 200 (HBO on Demand) the
arrow keys are passed out the IR blaster to the cable box, but on 201
(HBO), they are caught by MythTV as usual?

Thanks,
Rob
