[mythtv-users] OT: Two Avermedia M179 Tuner Cards for Sale
Hello all, Sorry if this is off topic, but I have two working Avermedia M179s for sale. I am replacing them with a PVR-500 and Promise PCI IDE card to attach more drives. Both cards are in fine working condition and have been in my system for about a year. IVTV supports these cards and they work much like a PVR-250. (Hardware encoding, etc) If anyone is interested in one or both cards, I'd be happy to help you out at a reasonable price. Bob, The fix you really want is to try your default tuner.ko, replacing the tuner.ko from ivtv. Bob, I found the problem with IVTV and the M179s is the included tuner module. If you keep the stock tuner.ko from your kernel, then you can successfuly tune and change channels. This is what worked for me. I'm using FC3 with one of the later rc3 ivtv versions on a test box and it works fine. Granted I'm not using a amd64 system but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. What does your modprobe.conf look like? I will say the M179 is very very stubborn. You usually have to trick it especially on a reboot as this card doesn't get autorecognized by ivtv. If your getting static then thats a good sign. What I have to do sometimes is change the tuner to something that doesn't work then change it back to the right one. Like so, ivtvctl -p 0 ivtvctl -p 3. If composite(3) is what your using. I've tried your trick Dennis, changing the input with ivtvctl, to 3 and backto 0 (I'm using the coax input), but it still doesn't work. Now, going back to the latest gentoo driver, I don't even get a picture, just static, or blank screens when I have a different input. I've attached my modprobe.conf file. As things look now, though, I'll return the m179 and get a PVR150. I think that should be easy to get working, and there isn't much price difference. [mythtv-users] VLC x264 codec
I was curious if Videolan's implementation of the h.264 codec could have any possibilities for MythTV? Are you using Xv? Do you have that selected in setup? [mythtv-users] SOLUTION: Seek (FF / Fast foward) does not skip correctly
I've been struggling with this for the last few days, on my Xebian 1.0.3 system running MythTV 0.17 I wasn't able to skip or fast forward through recordings. All my searches through the archives indicated that this might be a problem with the recordedmarkup table, and a byproduct of transcoding and comm flagging. I ran all the mysqlcheck, everything came back clean. This is my second Xebian system, the first running 0.17 on my v.1.0 Xbox works fine. I tried everything I possibly could, I rebuilt MythTV from source, same issue. This frontend was the only one exhibiting this behaviour. When you would try to skip the system would freeze about 5-10 seconds and then the video would become garbled. The total time of the recording would vary too. Typically for a 30 minute recording the end time would start around 800 minutes then modulate from 35 minutes to 28 minutes. Interestingly older recordings that were from 0.16 would work fine. After three days...(I know, I'm slow. . .) I noticed that the /etc/localtime was linked to Vienna. The install for Xebian did *not* prompt me for the timezone during setup. I linked the /etc/localtime to my correct timezone, restarted the frontend and it all works fine. I just wanted to send this back to the list to be available for future records.
