How are you trying to capture the sound. I have flyleads going from the
audio out ports on my cards into the line in on sound cards, and then have
setup alsamixer to capture the line-ins with mute on.

I assume that you have the sound card(s) working and can play audio ok.

cheers

I'm running 2 Jetway 878 cards, which I think are the same as the Kworld
cards. Try the bttv driver with option card=78. I think that the tuenr
option is 5 but I'm a) not sure, and b) I'm in the UK and on PAL so the
number would probably be different anyway.

I tried and failed miserably to get any sense out of the IR, either with
the bundled receiver or using the remote with a working sir IR reciver
coupled to the motherboard.

I'm in the UK, and think I've managed it. I initally had it where Mth was
set to 4:3 and everything looked ok, but changing to 16:9 via the W
dropped everything into a 2 inch high letterbox

I'm recording from sky via svideo into an analogue card which captures at
576x288.

I setup the displaysize parameter up in my XFConfig, had to fiddle with
the numbers to get the fonts and everything to scale correctly, halfed
them if my memory serves me right.

I then forced the aspect ratio in playback settings to be 16:9, and
everything now appears to be OK on playback. The W key now cycles through
ok.

The recordings still report 4:3 in Nuvexport, but I've cobbled the ffmpeg
dvd export routine to include the -aspect option to force to the output to
16:9 otherwise the exported recordings are squashed into 4:3.

Hope this is of some help.

[mythtv-users] problem exporting recordings to Divx for portable

2005-03-13 Thread garydawes
I've recently bought an Archos Gmini 400, which looks as if it will be a
great complement to my mythtv system.

However, I'm having problems with audio syncronisation with files exported
to divx using Nuvexport. The Audio is ahead of the video by a second or 2
if I play the file in Winamp, or on the archos itself. The file plays
absolutely fine in Windows Media Player, or Mplayer.

I have tried various settings including the Nuvexport defaults for divx,
and some settings recommended in a previous post (cif format I recall)

I'd really like to use Nuvexport as I want to use cutlists to remove the
rubbish. Nuvexport is exporting to DVD quite happily these days, and
quickly, and I don't want to break that. BTW nuvexport is using ffmpeg. I
have also found a script on www.gmini400.com which exports using mencoder
and transcode, but at the moment that just garbles the video. I have been
trying to get nuv2avi to compile, and have noted the comments about
including the path to lame.h in the makefile, but I'm in stupid mode at
the moment, as I cannot get it to compile, but Nuvexport would be the
preferred option.

I think that ffmpeg may be exporting the audio using VBR, where as the
archos wants a constant bit rate, but I cannot find an option to force
ffmpeg.

Thanks in advance for any ideas and assistance.
