[mythtv-users] running 3.4.j :Taking too long to read.
running a pvr-500 on a pundit-r box. Attached is both my /var/log/messages excerpt as well as a verbose log from my mythfrontend. The real puzzler is that in mythfrontend log i keep getting Taking too long to read. If anyone can give me a clue as to what i did wrong I'd be greatful. [mythtv-users] setting up a pvr-500 in mythtvsetup.
Okay I've used Jarrod's guide and the card works. I can get video and audio. But... I can't seem to be able to record one channel and then watch live TV on another. My PVR-500 according to /var/log/messages is recognized as two PVR-150's. So when I go to mythtvsetup enter capture cards. I pick mpeg-2 encoder (PVR-250,PVR-350) Video device: /dev/video0 Default Input: Tuner0 In input connections I have both tuner's set to cable. . When I run mythfrontend I can switch tuners by hitting the C key but I can't get picture in picture nor can I watch tv on one channel and record another. I've tried setting it up as two cards. where I added a second mpeg-2 encoder video device: /dev/video1 Default input Tuner1 Set both cards/tuners to cable in the input connections. But when I do this I can't watch live TV. What do I do? Mark Now here is where I am stumped. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] mythtv setup and pvr-500
Ok I clearly am having wild luck. I'm running a Pvr-500 in a pundit-r. I can get signal on both tuners and switch between two channels. But how come onceI hit R on one tuner to record a show i see curently running I cannot then simply hit C (change tuners). And watch a different show? I figured since the coax going into the card feeds both tuners. I should be able to watch both at the same time. Or do I need to send one signal in via coax and another in via svideo, composite ? Also why can't I get P-I-P either ? Thanks, Mark ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] pvr-500 prebuffer pause?
Greetings, After much head scratching and how-to reading and list searching. I got 1 qhole second of tv on my pundit-r pvr-500 mythtv box. I'm happy about it because up until i shutdown long enough to move my computer to another room all I was getting was static. So I got 1 whole second of video with sound to match then it abruptly hangs. Below is what was coming up when I ran mythfrontend from the command line. What fan are you using? I bought a 3.0E Ghz. Yes Prescott, I figured more is still better. I'll have to just increase the cooling "factor." I'm only using one memory stick (1GB Pc3200 ) so I don't think I'll have too much issues with regards to space for the heatsink. The other insides are 1 PVr-500 maybe a pchdtv 3000 i'll see my actual room before i throw it into the machine. Pitty. I'm new to building PC but let me get this straight. I'dbe better off buying a 2.4Ghz Celeron than a 2.8 P4? At least in terms of noise. How does this work in terms of processing power. I'm planning on getting a Pundit-R with 1GB of memory and throwing in both a pchdtv-3000 and an pvr-500. I want to be able to watch/record and maybe even burn a dvd at the same time. I see a 2.4 Celeron going for 98.00 (USD) and a 3.0E Ghz P4 going for 180 (USD) normally my impulse is higher is better. But if I can get the same amount of work done quieter and cheaper so bet it Thanks Mark A. X.
