Yes, of course. Generally it is OK, but sometimes problems can occur.

For example, (from memory) recently Star Gate changed to appear on
Mondays, and the first week the d1 guide had another show in the same
time slot. The green guide was correct (updated once a
week). Subsequent weeks were OK. This was not a unique event.

Next time I get a good solid example of the d1 guide (updated daily)
directly contradicting the green guide(updated once a week) and what
is actually broadcast, I will post here.

Yes, two cards does solve the problem, but it is inefficient use of
the available resources, and often I want to record two sets of shows
on different channels simultaneously. I don't want to have to get 4
tuner cards just to do this, when 2 tuner cards should (in theory) be
sufficient.

The alternative, that we currently use, is to set each program up to
"record only this time", so you can manually adjust the end time for
each time slot. Unfortunately, TV stations seem to swap/change TV
shows so often that this frequently results in missing a show.
I've also use the global 'record an extra number of seconds' option
which
gets ignored if recording string together, or manually scheduling the
block
of time instead.
Huge time swaps dont happen all that often, usually what happens is the
guide data gets changed between grabbing and recording. It worth
grabing each days today fresh every morning.

If by quality you mean accuracy -- no, if I get data its as valid as a
printed guide (It's by no means as live as an onscreen guide). In terms of
completeness - it's not as rich as it used to be, hasn't been updated with
new channels, sometimes have to fudge the timezones (shouldn't be an issue
at all in Melbourne).

I haven't noticed this. The majority of my recordings are from Foxtel and
these tee up pretty well, the free-to-air ones tend to miss a few minutes.

> Ideally, it would be nice if mythtv could realize that the same input

YES! This is in my wishlist too - myth would automagically connect adjoining
programs into a single physical recording and offer multiple virtual
recordings (mapped by a cutlist like currently implemented) within the
single recording. If one show runs late, you just adjust the dividing point
in the cutlist. Reference counting would need to be used to manage deletes
(attention any devs desperate for ideas?)

With regards to your XMLTV issue, are you sure you have the right City
location and timezones set?

With regards to the recording issue, I think the problem is that myth
records single shows and would need to be modified so the two adjacent
shows are a single recording. The problem arises if you want to
delete one of the shows but not the other.

Have you had any problems with the quality of the data retrieved from
d1?

On some occasions I have noticed the times are completely out (so I
get the last 30 minutes of the previous show but miss out on the last
30 minutes of the show I wanted), on other occasions it gets the wrong
TV show for a given time slot.

Anyone else noticed similar problems?

(Melbourne free-to-air TV).

It seems like as I result, I always have to double check myth's guide
to make sure it got it correct.

Also, my wishlist:

If I setup program A to record on channel X, immediately followed by
show B on the same channel. This generally works fine as is. However,
TV shows generally run late, hence we usually set A to record up to 10
minutes late. This may be required because show A runs on another day
when it is not followed by show B. However, this means show A
conflicts with show B.

Ideally, it would be nice if mythtv could realize that the same input
data could be used to write both shows. Is this possible?

The alternative, that we currently use, is to set each program up to

Doesn't look like the MSN script supports it as it is currently, but
you should be able to cust and paste a section for one of the other

Alternatively use the old D1 script which I think has WA in it already.

Hi tv_grab_au users,

Mackay's data is fading fast. I hope NINEMSN gets there act together
too.

Here is a survey of TV site I did a while ago.

I did try a grab for yourtv.com.au which seems to have the best
information but their use of cookies and javascript makes it difficult.

I thought tvguide.seven.com.au maybe the next best but maybe it wouldn't
handle the extra load grabbers would place on it as well as ninemsn did.

I believe this is the grabber I'm using:

You will probably have to tweak the channel_ids file(s) to suit your

I agree. When the grabbers are not working, I use yourTV's 7 day personal

I'm not using this script, so...
The variable $#pidsrowspansnames just mean (in Perl) "the number of elements
in the array $pidsrowspansnames", so you need to look at the previous bit of
code which sets the $pidsrowspansnames variable, possibly a subroutine
returning undefined/null. Probably an error condition relating to the lack
of data everyone is experiencing *again*.

Re: [mythtv-users] [Australian Program Guide Listings - FoxtelMissing]

2005-03-14 Thread David Whyte
My bad. I think this issue is caused by a 404 being returned so the
HTML cannot be parsed. I removed the files for the 18, 19, 20,
however, the 404 errors persist. Looking at ninemsn, the guide for
18, 19 and 20 do not exist.

I wonder what is up..!!

Re: [mythtv-users] [Australian Program Guide Listings - FoxtelMissing]

2005-03-14 Thread David Whyte
I noticed that I am getting errors as an output of mythfilldatabase
that state...

18032005 downloading
Use of uninitialized value in string at /usr/local/bin/tv_grab_au line 693.
19032005 downloading
Use of uninitialized value in string at /usr/local/bin/tv_grab_au line 693.
20032005 downloading
Use of uninitialized value in string at /usr/local/bin/tv_grab_au line 693.
queue is complete
all threads done
building xml structure
no pids in /var/local/tv_grab_au/18032005/guide.prn
no pids in /var/local/tv_grab_au/19032005/guide.prn
no pids in /var/local/tv_grab_au/20032005/guide.prn
writing file

When I look at this line, there is the following...

print PRN "$pidsrowspansnames[$#pidsrowspansnames]";

It is the $#pidsrowspanames variable. I don't know perl, but there
has been no changes to this script. Anyone tell me what I should do
to this?

FYI: The rest of the code around that area...
if (open(PRN, ">", $guide_prn_file))
{
for (my $count=0; $count<$#pidsrowspansnames; $count++)
{
print PRN "$pidsrowspansnames[$count]>";
}
print PRN "$pidsrowspansnames[$#pidsrowspansnames]";
close(PRN);
}
else
{
print "can't open for writing $guide_prn_file\n";
}

Re: [mythtv-users] [Australian Program Guide Listings - FoxtelMissing]

2005-03-14 Thread Michael Cheshire (Mailing Lists)
Hmmm,
Interestingly enough I only have till Thursday for Adelaide also.
I wonder if its just a temporary problem with ninemsn - they may fix it?
After having a look around at other possible sources, it looks like the
foxtel site is out - they have 1 months worth of data for foxtel, but if you
look at the source for the pages with the info, it looks like someone has
designed it specifically to stop people harvesting the data (its encoded
somehow?).

However it looks like someone has written some scripts for Windoze Media
Centre 2005 which strips the data from here :

http://www.ebroadcast.com.au
http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/cgi-bin/TV/grid?date=Saturday_19_March&TVperiod=Night&state=Adelaide&fta=0&fox=1&opt=0&lk=sofcom
I dont suppose one of those wonderful people who wrote our last data harvest
script could have a look at this?

I only have four days of data left on free to air, Brisbane. I think
ninemsn have gotten wise to something.
I would like some more data please :P
