Re: [mythtv-users] DVB Tuning

2006-01-15 Thread Rob

What version of Myth are you using?

If you are using 0.18.1, I highly suggest
compiling the SVN version, even if for no other reason than to scan for
channels (although in my experience, 0.19 deals so with HDTV far better).
The SVN version automatically populates the channel database with valid QAM256
channels it finds while scanning (you will need to watch them, figure out what they
are, and rename them manually to sync them up with guide data).  The
0.18.1 version will populate the dvb_transport database, but will not return
any channels because cable usually lacks PSIP data.

Subject: [mythtv-users] DVB Tuning

Hello,

I have installed MythTV and everything appears to work well
when using the standard v4l drivers with my PCHDTV 3000 card.  When I scan
for channels using the DVB drivers and the QAM256 option, I see that some of
the channels lock but when I try to view, I get nothing.

I'm in Atlanta
with Comcast cable and I'm scanning directly through the cable ... no cable box
in the mix.  I've tried a few different variations to no avail.  I've
even downloaded the dvb-apps from linuxtv and tried to do it manually with even
worse results.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thomas

[mythtv-users] DVB Tuning Strangeness

2005-02-19 Thread Lachlan McIntosh

Hi
All

I've had a weird
problem where my Nova-T card sometimes refuses to tune.

The system seems to
get into this state when I'm recording on the DVB and my BTTV card at the same
time, it happens more often when
I'm recording on
both cards and watching say a video using mplayer.

When it
happens, no matter how many times I restart the backend, reboot the box
or shut it down, the DVB card refuses to
tune.  The bttv card is fine.

The only
way I can get the card to tune again is to shut down the front and backends,
start setup and use the DVB advanced configuration
to
test the
card, I change channels in the test routine twice, and hey presto, it's back to
normal.

I've
also noticed that Watch TV doesn't seem to like to tune the card at any time
(except just after the trick above) where normally recording using the DVB
card are OK (sometimes it takes 10 or 15 seconds to lock onto a
channel)

Has
anyone else experienced behaviour like this?

ThanksLachlan
McIntosh

Yes, the startchannel is setted on an existing channel number that I see
in the Channel Editor.
The startchannel is correctly tuned, but then I cannot change channel at
all...
Channels are setted correctly, because if I set another channel as
startchannel and I restart mythfrontend, this channel is tuned correctly
the first time.
The logs you read in the previous post are when I change channel, not
when I start mythfrontend. When I start mythfrontend all works perfectly...

You are not setting your startchannel correctly. You need to set it to an
existing channel number that you see in the Channel Editor.

1. start the setup app and at card input put in a working channel

I can watch TV with kaxtv...
Check out the "Test Scanning and Tuning of Channels" section from

If I try to tune with dvbstream with the command
./dvbstream -o -f 11765000 -p V -s 275 650 3401

Ok,
In mythtvsetup, have you entered the frequencies, and other settings?
Are you sure they are the correct settings?

I think so, I read the settings from
http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.html, and I inserted a channel for test:
- RAI Uno, Freq 11766000, SR 275, Pol Vertical, Video 512, Audio
650, Service ID 3401, Network ID 318, Transport ID 5200.

Where in the world are you?
I am in Italy, I am using Hotbird satellites...

Yes, the cards works perfectly in other programs, I can scan for
channels with dvbscan and I can watch TV in Kaxtv.

In mythtvsetup, have you entered the frequencies, and other settings?
Are you sure they are the correct settings?

[mythtv-users] DVB tuning problems

2005-01-25 Thread Mattia Martinello
Hi,
I am trying to install mythtv with a Hauppauge Wintv Nova CI DVB card on
Fedora Core 3 Linux box.
I configured the card and two DVB channels in mythtv, and the card
wizard test seems to be OK.
When I run Mythtv I can't see any TV program.

Could you help me solving this problem, please?
I pasted in the bottom of this message the messages from mythbackend and
mythfrontend.

Thank you very much!
