I don't think the deinterlacer is used if you're using the 350 decoder.  The 
video gets fed straight to the decoder, so it never gets any preprocessing 
done.  So I'm pretty sure that regardless of your deinterlacing settings, the 
picture quality will be the same.

That would probably explain why it didn't seem to make much difference in
either case but since it WAS checked, i unchecked it

I don't actually have a pvr-350, but I'm pretty sure you don't.  Chances
are you are connecting this to the S-VIDEO input of a televsion.  TVs
like interlaced sources :)

There is no point in enabling de-interlacing when
using the PVR-350 TV-out, that I have found, back when
I was using it.  Now that I'm using a GeForce 5200FX,
I enable the deinterlacer.
