[mythtv-users] Nvidia 8174+OpenGLVSync = High CPU
Just a friendly note of warning to all of the NVIDIA users out there who have upgraded to use version 8174 of the NVIDIA driver that you could be using a lot more CPU than with earlier driver versions. It has been reported by a few people (myself included) that using OpenGL Vsync with 8174 uses a lot more CPU than previous. Disabling OGL Vsync or reverting to a previous driver lowers the usage back to normal. So if you are suddenly seeing some skipping video or other cpu issues and you recently updated your video driver you might want to check it out. With 7676 my cpu usage was(on an XP2500+) : With OGLVS Playback : 12% Paused : 0% Without OGLVS Playback : 13% Paused : 0% But with 8174 I had: With OGLVS Playback : 80% Paused : 30% (That's right, 30% when paused) Without OGLVS Playback : 13% Paused : 0% ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
