Selecting watch TV doesn't let me switch the channel anymore in this

I have the same problem, too. This is very annoying, for every broken
channel I have to do the same stupid procedure:
 - kill mythbackend and mythfrontend
 - enter mythtv-setup
 - change the default channel to 1
( Why does it change the default channel, anyway ? Is it because then
it starts up with the same channel watched when it was shut down ? Can
   I turn that off somewhere ? )
 - remove the broken channel from the list.
( I don't know how to remove channels in the channel editor, so I edit
its number to something 1000 )
 - exit mythtv-setup
 - start mythbackend and mythfrontend

Why does mythfrontend crash when the channel is broken ?
Is there no solution to this problem ?

No, there is an easier solution. In the version of myth you are
running, you do indeed have to kill the frontend, but not the
backend. You can give the command to your tuner to change the
channel -- ivtvctl for wintv, /dev/dtvsignal works do do this for
the pchdtv. This will put it on a strong channel.

If you happen to have mythweb running you can rather easily remove the
 channel from the web interface.

You can also remove any bad channels in mythtvsetup in the channel editor.

In the CVS version it handles this problem a bit more gracefully IE.
it doesnt kill the frontend each time but rather returns you back to
the frontend menu after about 10 seconds.. still have the problem of
it defaulting back to the broken channel again though lol

I normally just set it to record something via the programe guide,
then cancel it.. when you go to watch live tv again it will default to
the channel the recording was on.
