1). Run mythbackend from a commandline with debugging output on, so you can see the output of the directv.pl script2). Make sure when you test the script it's with the same user the backend runs with.3). Related to #2, check permissions on the serial device (/dev/ttyS0 or whatever) to make sure that isn't the problem.
4). Check the path to make sure the right copy of the script is being run, and that it is being found. You may even want to try putting the full path to the script in the myth setup.Hopefully one of those will get you closer to a solution!

[mythtv-users] directv.pl within MythTV

2006-01-02 Thread Kirk Grell
I can get directv.pl to change channels on the command
line, but it doesn't work within MythTV. The error
from mythbackend appears to be:

...
2006-01-02 19:36:43.447 ret_pid(0) child(17816)
status(0x0)
Error excessive retries
2006-01-02 19:36:44.451 ret_pid(17816) child(17816)
status(0xff00)
2006-01-02 19:36:44.452 ChannelBase: external tuning
program exited with error 255
...

I've got a D10-100 and the command I'm using in MythTV
is:

/usr/share/mythtv/directv.pl setup_channel

I've even tried:

/usr/share/mythtv/directv.pl box_type D10-100
setup_channel

with no success.

I've seen quite a few posts on similar issues, but I
never saw any resolutions I can try. I'm using the
latest versions of everything (MythTV, directv.pl,
etc).

Any help debugging this would be greatly appreciated.

Kirk
