So.. the question is:

Is there a way to restore to the db the listing of the nv tv
recordings and png images?

No, but you can rebuild it using myth.rebuilddatabase.pl .
Unfortunately, you have to come up with the Title/Subtitle/Description,
so it won't help with duplicate matching, but at least your shows will
be available.

Do these nv files store the tv equivalent of ID3 tags so I don't
simply get a raw listing of filenames?

No.

I realize I could just move these files to the media/video area, but
for various reasons, I'd prefer them to be in tv recordings.

Thanks for the help.

Good luck,
Mike

[mythtv-users] dumb move -- lost mysql db -- restore tv files to db?

2005-07-26 Thread Joshua M. McClain

Hi guys

I recently decided I liked mythtv enough to buy real hardware for it, so
I did just that. Parts arrived, I got it put together, stage 1 gentoo,
the works.

I backed up all the storage directories for my test mythtv system, which
included a LOT of television recordings. I moved this backup to the new
mythtv system. All the music files and video files were scanned in with
success (ie: ID3 tags from the MP3s), but when I went to look at tv
recordings, nothing was there. Then it hit me -- I didn't back up the
DB...DOH!(And of course, the test sytem had already been wiped clean.)

Thanks for the help.
