[mythtv-users] unable to play video on frontend (but dvd works).
Hi Folks, I'm building my first mythbox, gentoo linux, pvr-350, nvidia geforce mx4000. I have run into an issue that I have been unable to find an answer to. I can playback dvd's, record tv shows, but when I try to or watch live tv or playback recorded shows my mythfrontend complains that it is unable to initialise video. I have included is the output from the mythfrontend console at the end of this email[1]. I noticed the following message in the console output: IVTV_IOC_GET_FB: Invalid argument Which would make me suspect that something is wrong with ivtv, but I can play my recordings using mplayer, and I can also watch the live mpeg streams[2] with it, so I guess my ivtv setup is ok? As I mentioned earlier the frontend is able to play back dvd's, so I don't think its an issue with the video card. Can anyone suggest what I might investigate or do as a next step? Should I just move on and start configuring myth to use the PVR-350's tv-out capability? BTW I'm currently launching the frontend under a gnome session. If I can provide more information just let me know... thanks, --Frank [1] mythfrontend console output 2005-08-05 00:03:59.342 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543 (try 1 of 5) 2005-08-05 00:03:59.350 Using protocol version 15 IVTV_IOC_GET_FB: Invalid argument 2005-08-05 00:04:04.681 Changing from None to WatchingPreRecorded 2005-08-05 00:04:04.681 Decoder not alive, and trying to play.. 2005-08-05 00:04:04.685 Changing from None to None 2005-08-05 00:04:05.429 New DB connection, total: 3 2005-08-05 00:04:05.444 Could not bind to UDP notify port: 6948 IVTV_IOC_GET_FB: Invalid argument 2005-08-05 00:04:06.033 Changing from None to WatchingPreRecorded 2005-08-05 00:04:06.033 Decoder not alive, and trying to play.. 2005-08-05 00:04:06.036 Changing from None to None 2005-08-05 00:04:06.584 Could not bind to UDP notify port: 6948 IVTV_IOC_GET_FB: Invalid argument [2] mplayer /dev/video0 ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Use the PVR-350's TV out / MPEG decoder MythTV can use the PVR-350's TV out and MPEG decoder for high quality playback. This requires that the ivtv-fb kernel module is also loaded and configured properly. Mike ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
