RE: [mythtv-users] Gentoo, PVR350, ivtv and Xorg 6.8.0 NO ivtvdev
Thanks to every one that offered sugestions. I tried to do some tests with the frame buffer by itself and it was unresponsive. As it turns out I had this in my /etc/modules.d/ivtv to clean the random junk off the screen. post-install ivtv-fb /usr/bin/ivtvfbctl /dev/fb0 -alpha 0 And that was the problem. I commented it out, rebooted, and X is working. Greg. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Re: [mythtv-users] Gentoo, PVR350, ivtv and Xorg 6.8.0 NO ivtvdev
What are the same results? Does X crash, or just not load? does the system freeze? Are you getting any errors? The only one I see in the log is this one: > (EE) IVTVDEV(0): FBIOPAN_DISPLAY: Invalid argument But I get that error all the time. Try changing which fb you are using, and if none of 0-3 work, try recompiling your kernel to either add or remove console fb support and try again with 0-3. Each different kernel / ivtv version I use makes the PVR-350 come up as a different framebuffer device and require a different setup to work. Right now on 2.6.9 I have framebuffer enabled on the console and the pvr comes up at /dev/fb/2 (third fb dev) - Jeff On Mon, 07 Mar 2005 09:37:13 -0700, Greg Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I tried the latest 0.2 release of ivtv with the same results. Re: [mythtv-users] Gentoo, PVR350, ivtv and Xorg 6.8.0 NO ivtvdev
it def does work. I have the same setup almost exactly, gentoo with kernel 2.6.9, xorg 6.8.0-r3, pvr350 (rev990) my xorg.conf file: http://jeff.jeffornot.com/XF86Config the startup script I'm using for myth: http://jeff.jeffornot.com/start_myth.sh (both of those files probably have a LOT of unneccessary stuff. The startup script automatically runs setup when I exit the frontend, cuz I'm too lazy to make two scripts. The xf86config file is the same one I've had since like redhat 6, I've just been editing it and regenerating/merging old files together. I think that one even has some remnants of the old ati gatos drivers in it) ivtv version: 0.2.0_rc3 myth version: cvs (0.16 worked, too, however) - Jeff On Mon, 07 Mar 2005 08:12:55 -0700, Greg Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I hope that this isn't too far off topic. Re: [mythtv-users] Gentoo, PVR350, ivtv and Xorg 6.8.0 NO ivtvdev
The binary version should run fine for a 32 bit Xorg as well. I am not sure what version of ivtv you are using but assuming it is recent version then the ivtvdev_drv.o is bundled with the ivtv releases (on ivtv.no-ip.info). The latest (fastest) ones are not available for download individually at the moment. If you still dont get anywhere email me the Xorg.0.log file.
