Re: [mythtv-users] MythTV and PSP

2005-12-17 Thread Byron Poland
FYI.

the latest nuvexport builds have PSP output in there. I had to edit
the PSP.pm file to get it not to check ffmpeg, the PSP option was
coming up disabled otherwise.

Also cutlist support is in nuvexport. I ran a HD episode of prison
break through nuvexport, and with the cut list, the episode came in at
260 mb. looks like av sync is off though. Its probably because of
using the cutlists though.

Try ffmpeg -formats and look for mention of psp.It is one of the benefits of Gentoo! :) I ran it for a while, but after a hard
drive failure I couldn't be bothered re-installing (recompiling) it allagain. Been trying out kubuntu recently, but I'm back with Mandriva!Sure enough, the copy of ffmpeg my gentoo system built back in June has psp support!

It just plays normal video in whatever format, so I use nuvexport to export to xvid at a really small pixel size and low audio rate to save space.
Has anybody thought of adding PSP or Palm video modes to nuvexport? If I had a larger memory stick, I would be pretty interested in that, it would make it very easy to set up a transcode to make files small enough to fit on a palm or other handheld device.

I also run Gentoo and would like to know if ffmpeg --help lists anything
specific regarding the PSP compatibility when it works (I know mine does
not), but would like it to work without having to hack the ebuilds. I
do not have a PSP either, but plan on getting one soon and would
definitely like this ability.

Yeah, it was for a time pointing to an old copy of the web pages, which didn't
have that article. Just going to take a bit of time for the dns change to
make its way round the 'net.

> I've never set up a user job before. what is the syntax input into

I'm probably going to add this to the article anyway, but here you go...

In the "Job Queue (Job Commands)" screen, enter something like "Convert to
PSP" in the description box, and:

/home/mythtv/bin/mkpspvid.sh %DIR%/%FILE% "%TITLE%"

into the command box, where the first part is the path to your script. Don't
forget the / between %DIR% and %FILE% or the quotes round the %TITLE%

You can find more info on job queues at:

http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/UnderDevelopment

As I said in my original email, still trying to figure out how to (if you can)
set the job to run for every recording.

Yeah, sorry... bit of a screw up with the DNS records. I've recently moved web
servers and some of the dns records were still pointing to the old address.

Fixed the problem, might take some time to propagate.

Darren,

I also have a PSP and wanted to read your instructions but this is what I got
a few minutes ago:

Object not found!
The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL
manually please check your spelling and try again.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
Error 404
www.22balmoralroad.net
 Apache/2.0.54 (Mandriva Linux/PREFORK-13mdk)

Even just http://www.22balmoralroad.net/ gets me the same error.

Unfortunately, I've never had commercial detection working properly, so I tend
to have it turned off and get the commercials rather than risk losing some of
the program.

The simpsons episode ended up at 181Mb using 768kbps for the video, and 32kbps
for the audio.

Byron, what error messages are you getting when accessing my site?

Cheers,

That's pretty cool.  Did you get the cutlist to trim
commercials?  How big was the 30min Simpsons  episode after
re-encoding?

I've found that the mobilehackerz ffmpeg fork works well (its what
pspvideo9 uses in windows), it also supports the title stuff is the
file.
here's a link on how to get and build it:

http://playstation2-linux.com/forum/message.php?msg_id=48632

Adding support for psp to myth2ipod would be cool.

Re: [mythtv-users] mythtv and PSP: getting records on a PSP?

2005-11-01 Thread WiFi Fun
ffmpeg -i /path/myrecording.nuv -deinterlace -vcodec xvid -s 320x240
-r 29.97 -b 384 -qmin 3 -qmax 9 -bufsize 4096 -acodec aac -ab 96 -g
300 -f mp4 mypspfile.mp4

That ffmpeg line should give you a file playable on the PSP. you could
save out a log file and do a second pass for better quality. You can
also tweak a few other setting. The is a myth2ipod script a few of us
are working on, that I would be glad to add PSP encoding to, if
someone with a PSP could test the output video files and report back.
myth2ipod.com is where you can get it.
