Re: [mythtv-users] off topic question/request for help on a mediamvp

2005-06-22 Thread T. Waldren
I am using FC2 and myth .16 .

I still never got it working, so I will be trying again this weekend probably.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am pulling out my hair trying to figure this out, and the wife isn't
very happy that something I promised her would be working a month ago
still just boots up and says "contacting Mediamvp booterver".

I've updated the mvpmc HOWTO in the last few days. See if the new
version helps. As far as the location of the files, every distribution
seems to do it differently. As is stated in the HOWTO, I wrote it on a
Debian machine, but in the meantime someone sent me updated path
information for Mandriva, so that's now included. You don't state which
distribution you're using.

Given that I hate to see people pull out there hair, and I don't like
pulling my own hair out, I thought I would see how far you have gone
on the MVPMC setup. I'm all the way there, except each time I go to
view recordings, the MVP says it's lost it's connection to MythTV.

I've had to go the NFS route too, since it seems there's a protocol
mis-match on the MVPMC and my backend (0.18.1).

Anyway, I'd be happy to compare notes.

Well, I've also been working on the MediaMVP. I've been able to get
dchcp working, but my issues seem to be with the tftp server.

At any rate, you just need to create the dhcpd.conf file. I used the
sample file that was provided in the howto for the mvpmc. I edited it
to suit my needs, and dhcpd works fine for me. I did nothing with the
sample file in /etc/log.d/conf/services/.

I'm stuck at the "downloading software" part, so if you have any
suggestions if you get that part worked out, I'd sure appreciate it.

I'm using FC3, MythTV 0.18.1.
