Geralmente eh um problema com versoes do nrpe q podem ser compilados com divrsas versoes de ssl. [Nagios-users] Nagios cannot detect user
Hi,
I access nagios (2.0) through Apache and SSL (see below for the
configuration)
As expected Apache asks me to authenticate when loading the page but
nagios is not able to get my user name. In the tactical overview I see:

Since I am using authentication (use_authentication=1) I am not able to
access all the information pages.

You probably don't use the same plugin for windows and linux so that's
not directly related to the OS but rather to the plugin or, more
probably, to the kind of output you get from your plugin.
Let's put what is spread on 3 different mails all together so that other
users have a maximum amount of info. You have the following service

The problem obviously (imho at least) comes from this backslash. It does not look like a coincidence: one backslash and your output gets truncated just afterwards.
It's very hard to figure out if and how backslashes get interpreted in the pipeline
plugin nagios mail with bash popping in everywhere. I don't even know if
you can rely on the fact that the command
printf %b D:\ - total: 63.80 Gb - used: 61.72 Gb (97%) - free 2.08 Gb (3%)\n | mail
-s this is just a test [EMAIL PROTECTED]
works on the command line.
Ideas:
Try to redirect the mail body to a file rather than sending it, i.e. /bin/printf
[...] /tmp/somefilenagioscanwriteto and examine its content. Try to get your
plugin not output this backslash you don't care about after all (that's what mine
does actually). Give us more info on you system, Nagios ver., service definition,
check plugin, ...

[Nagios-users] Host notifications sent but not wanted
I upgraded tonagios 2.0b4 and now whenever I get a service alert I also receive a host up alert. Even if i disable host notifications I still get a host up alert along with the service notification. Anyone know how to turn off this feature :-). Thank you very much. Conrad

Thanks for the response, this was my foolishness! I had host-notify-by-email set on the service_notifications for some reason. Hi, I tried to install Nagios 2.0 on Fedora Core 4 according to the Nagios V. 2.0 documentation. All of commands and options are same with those in the document. But in the Nagios installation dirctory (/usr/local/nagios), there is no etc subdirectory. If the nagios cgi's truly live in /usr/lib/nagios/cgi, then the auth restrictions are not applied where they're needed. You're applying them to the wrong directory, /usr/lib/nagios/cgi-bin. You're being prompted to log in because the auth restrictions to the html directory _are_ working but that doesn't matter since the CGI's, that need to see the auth info, are in another directory. Many thanks, whis was indeed the problem. I really didn't notice looking at the config files since, without thinking too much, both /usr/lib/nagios/cgi and /usr/lib/nagios/cgi-bin seemed reasonable.
