Com relação ao YUN você tem que abrir o pacote, colocar a MIB desejada e
refazer o pacote. E na opção você tem que colocar a MIB.c sem o ( .c)
somente o nome dela.

estão no diretorio agent/mibgroup dentro do snmp.

I am running nagios on SuSE 10, too, and without problems like this.

check_dhcp is set suid (by make install, AFAIR):

ll check_dhcp
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 56032 Mar 20 15:16 check_dhcp

./check_dhcp -s 192.168.130.200
DHCP ok: Received 1 DHCPOFFER(s), 1 of 1 requested servers responded, max
lease time = 3600 sec.

I don't know if that matters, but I have compiled nagios an the plugings
(still 1.4.2) by myself. I'm not using the rpm's comming with SuSE.

Perhaps you have played with /etc/permissions? Check /var/log/messages if
there is any hint.

Bye, Rene

RE: [Nagios-users] disabling notifications for a host

2006-04-21 Thread lars.bruun-hansen

Bill,

I had similar question. As do a lot other on the list.
I think the common denominator for those questions is that people a
looking for a way to let the service notification setting be derived
from the host notification setting.

In my posting
   https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=15380227
I've made a suggestion for that.

Are we in sync that this is what we need? Or are we talking about
different things ?
If so I think we should raise it is a change request to Nagios Core.

Lars

still receiving notifications for all the services that this host is a
member of.

Notification control is seperate for hosts and services. You could use a
service template to disable (service) notifications and inherit that
into each relevant service definition.

You're still in the compliation directory. check_dhcp is not set suid.
If you do make install it will be copied to the plugin directory
(usually /usr/local/nagios/libexec) and will get suid

BUT as it seems you're execute check_dhcp as root in the example above

check_dhcp, but there's missing something...
Please try to run check_dhcp directly as root without sudo.
If this work, try
chmod u+s check_dhcp
and then run it as a normal user like
su - rene
cd /opt/nagios/nagios-plugins-1.4.2/plugins
./check_dhcp -s my.dhcp.server

In the meantime I have compiled and updated to plugins 1.4.3. There are no
problems with check_dhcp, execpt that make install didn't set the execution
permissions for all users. So if nagios runs as user daemon one need to make
chmod a+x check_dhcp

Bye, Rene

RE: [Nagios-users] Re: Monitor DHCP Server []

2006-04-21 Thread Frank, Jason

There are several reasons to fail to bind a low numbered port. The most
obvious is not having root privileges. If you running as root
(regardless if the program is setuid root), that is not in play. The
second most obvious is that something else is already listening on that
port. I'd check that next.

I am assuming that sudo works for other purposes so your solo

Well since most of the obvious causes are taken care of is anything
already bound to port 68? Check netstat. Other than that analyse the
strace output and see if that helps.

DHCP: Win2003 + MS DHCP Server

Another idea. See if SE (security enhanced) linux is running.

[Nagios-users] Cross authorizations for contacts

2006-04-21 Thread Fabio Lo Votrico
Hi all,
I'm using Nagios 2 and I want to define a contact who can see hosts
status and the status of only some of their services.
If I assign only these services to this contact, he can't see the status
of the host.
If I assign the host to this contact he automatically can see all this
host's services, even if they are assigned to someone else.

Example of what I want to do:

contacts: contact1, contact2
servicegroups: group1, group2
contact1 can see everything
contact1 can see host status and only service status of group1

(I use servicegroups in this example only for simplicity, they are not
required)

Is there a way to obtain this?

thanks!

[Nagios-users] NDO - Notifications

2006-04-21 Thread Mike Koponick
Hello Everyone,

I was wondering I currently have Nagios configured to notify me after it
has seen a problem twice, which means I have the retry value set to two.
This works fine for me since I don't want to get notified if there is
some sort of anomaly on the network.

My issue is that Nagios is writing to the MySQL NDO tables. When I query
the table for the current status, I see Critical for a particular
host/service, but it appears to be seeing the FIRST attempt which is
where I don't get notified, which is OK. I'm almost OK with living with
it but would like NOT to see the Critical messages in NDO. Is there a
configuration option that I am missing?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

[Nagios-users] web interface oddity

2006-04-21 Thread Curt Shaffer

I have a weird issue going on with a new Nagios install. I
am running 2.2 (although I was on 2.0 and tried 2.1 then 2.2 to fix this) on
CentOS 4 built from source, Apache 2.0.52-22, kernel version 2.6.9-34.EL. So
here is my issue. I started by adding some NRPE checks for my Windows servers.
I then went in to add check_icmp via generic-services (it was check-ping
previously) I modify the parameters to fit etc, etc. I restart Nagios and cruse
on over to the web interface and click service detail and there they are in a
pending state, all is well. I wait around for the checks to happen and as soon
as the page refreshes or if I go to another link on Nagios then back to service
detail those checks only are gone! Completely gone! I restart Nagios and
go back to the web interface - Service detail and there they are in a
pending state, then after a refresh or change to another link and back, gone
again! Happens every time. The odd thing is it doesnt happen all of the
time. What I mean is that if I continue to click to different links and back
they will come back then some continued refreshing or changing of links will
make them disappear. Sometimes they will stay there for a bit but you can guarantee
sooner or later they will disappear.

To add to the oddity, those checks all show as
warning even though the perfdata is showing that it is not in a warning state
per my definition and a manual run from the command line shows OK. Now just to
make sure I didnt do something stupid with configs I did a diff on this
section on this config vurses a config that I have on another Nagios box doing
the same exact check (running 2.1 btw) and they are identical.

I hate to say it but this really sounds like a bug but I am
willing to try some suggestions if anyone out there has any.

Thanks

Curt

Right on top of that! That was it! Odd. I wonder how that happened. I
calling my partner now to check how he is starting the process, maybe he is
doing manual and I am using an init script?

Thanks! Gatta love the community!

This sounds like an old Nagios 1.x problem:

Hosts and services intermittently disappear from the web interface
http://www.nagios.org/faqs/viewfaq.php?faq_id=21

stop the nagios service
check for straggler nagios processes
kill any you find
start nagios
