[Nagios-users] distributed monitoring host checking question
Hi, I am working on setting up a distributed monitoring system with Nagios (actually Groundwork). I have 3 child servers and 1 parent server, using NSCA to send passive check results from the children to the parent server. My question is about how Nagios (version 2.5) will behave when an on demand host check needs to be run. So for example: Host A is configured with check_host_alive ( a simple ping ) as its host check command on the parent server. It is also configured with Service A, say an SNMP check. Active host checks are not disabled on the parent server, but active service checks are. Host A, obviously, is also configured on the child server. When the child server sends a passive check result up to the parent saying that the SNMP check has failed, will the parent server then run the on-demand host check command to verify that Host A is still up? If not, how do I get that information up to the parent? Are passive host checks my only option? So I guess the question is this: In a distributed monitoring setup, will a parent server run an on-demand host check for a host that gets a report (via a passive service check sent from a child server) of a service being critical? [Nagios-users] Notifications sent in scheduled downtime
Hi, I have 3 services - Director Scheduler Agent, Director Storage Agent, and Director Client Agent. I had to upgrade these 3 services, so I scheduled fixed downtime for an hour on the scheduler agent, and fixed downtime on the storage and client agent setting triggered by to the downtime record of the scheduler. However, the storage and client agent still keep sending out notifications even though they are in downtime. Also, there is no downtime (Zzzz) icon next to the storage and client agent in the Services Overview. In the service details, it shows the downtime record as a comment, but says in scheduled downtime is NO: In Scheduled Downtime? [Nagios-users] contrib/check_snmp_disk_monitor.pl
I'm setting up a new n3 install from an existing n2 install. The previous system used check_snmp_disk_monitor, a compiled binary that uses the wrong libnetsnmp.so version for the new machine. If anyone can point me at the source for that, we might be able to stop right here. In the meantime, I'm trying to get contrib/check_snmp_disk_monitor.pl working, however, it's just timing out, where snmpwalk to the same host works just fine. Has anyone seen this situation and gotten through it? My VERY limited attempt to step through the script with perl -d hasn't shed any light. [Nagios-users] Mailing List archive search function
Which archives are you using? The archives linked off the support page (at gmane) are working correctly -- I was using the archives at Sourceforge, where the list is hosted Searched gmane.gmane.network.nagios.user for nagios Around 110 matching articles. Results 1-10. 58,556,716 articles searched in 0.996596 seconds. OK, thanks, I guess I'll have to use that.
