done by your plugin.

 Hi guys.

 I made my own check_disk plugin which is working fine, now I realized that
 it does not return any performance data information like the original
 check_disk, when I checked nagiograph I realized that the information was
 old, related to the original check_disk plugin when I was implementing
 nagiosgraph.

 This is what the original plugin returns:
 DISK OK - free space: /home 367 MB (89% inode=98%);| /home=43MB;343;;0;433

 The plugin is made in bash, can someone guide me or give me an example
 code about how to add that functionality to my script? In the example above
 the plugin returns ;| /home=43MB;343;;0;433, how's that calculated?

 Thank you very much for your time and support
 Best Regards.

 Could you use the check_dns plugin? Then if you couldn't resolve the host
 through either interface, it would alarm. It doesn't require an
 expected-address. I check a round-robin DNS entry this way, making sure it
 just resolves to something.

 Subject: [Nagios-users] Aggregate multiple interfaces/services/hosts

 Hello,

 I would like to monitor a couple of devices ( servers and witches) that are
 connected to the network via at least two interfaces. Nagios server is
 connected as well over two interfaces to the LAN. My question is:

 Is there any way to aggregate the monitored services/hosts into a single
 object that gives the critical status only when all aggregated objects have
 this status?

 For example: the Nagios system has two network interfaces: 192.168.0.1 and
 192.168.1.1. I would like to monitor a DNS server connected to the network
 via 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.1.2 IP addresses. Of course I can reach the DNS
 server from Nagios two ways: either via the 192.168.0.1 interface or via
 192.168.1.1. My target is to issue a warning/critical signal only when
 Nagios cannot query the DNS server on none of the IP addresses. Same should
 apply for hosts and network equipment and the service group should also
 provide performance data.

 I have already gave a shot with Nagios BPI, but unfortunately I cannot use
 the service group to map it in PNP4Nagios.

 Thank
 you!--

Re: [Nagios-users] home made php script

Hi Erik,

I think that Nagios can't find your script. The $USER$ macro is wrong.
It should be $USERn$ (defined in your resource.cfg file).

 Nagios 3.2.3

 The host/command/and service are all in the same .cfg file.

  define command{

 define service{

 service_description     Temp ups env sensor
 check_command           eaton_ups_temp

 Status Information  (Return code of 127 is out of bounds - plugin may be
 missing)

 If I run it with
 command_line /usr/bin/php -q $USER$/check_ups_temp.php
 I get warning instead of error status: Status Information:(null)

 My script:
 #!/usr/bin/php -q
 ?php

 $temp = 23;

 $maxtemp=22;

 if ($temp=$maxtemp){
 echo OK;
 exit(0);
 }
 if ($temp$maxtemp){
 echo CRITICAL;
 exit(2);
 }

 ?

 But even if I just use the simplest code it dosnt work.
 echo OK Test ok;
 exit(0);

 When I run the script from webmin as nagios user it works.

Re: [Nagios-users] added host not appearing in web interface

2011-06-11 Thread Daniel Tuecks
Hi Andrew,

wheater the NRPE daemon is running or not has nothing to do with your
host not appearing in the WebUI. In fact, it would be a little silly
if a host is only shown if its reachable ;) First check that Nagios
actually reads your config file (nagios.cfg: cfg_file/cfg_dir
parameters). Be sure you have defined that host in your nagios config
with at least one service (define host {  }; define service {
}). Also make sure your host/service definition has no register 0
parameter and that your user is allowed to see the host (by a
contact(group) or via authorized_for_all_hosts parameter in
cgi.cfg).

Daniel

2011/6/10 Kaplan, Andrew H. ahkap...@partners.org:
 Hi there --

 We are running Nagios 3.1.2 with the NRPE 2.12 client on our systems. We
 recently installed the VirtualBox application
 on one of our monitored systems, and have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit as the
 guest operating system. We want to monitor
 the disk usage, processes, mysql server, and rsyslogd daemon on the virtual
 machine, so the NRPE client was installed
 and configured to start on system boot. After that was done, the appropriate
 changes were made to the various config files

 on the Nagios server. The virtual machine and Nagios server were rebooted,
 in that order, after the changes were made.

 When going through the web interface on the Nagios server, the virtual host
 does not appear listed in any of the pages.

 I confirmed the nrpe daemon was operational on the client, and also verified
 that port 5666 was open, and the firewall on the

 client was deactivated. The nrpe daemon is run via the /etc/rc.local file
 using the following command syntax:

 /usr/local/nrpe/bin/nrpe -n -c /usr/local/nrpe/etc/nrpe.cfg -d

 I checked the Nagios server, and confirmed the virtual host was listed in
 the /etc/hosts as well as the nagios configuration

 files. The nslookup command, run on server and client, confirmed the
 presence of the virtual host in the DNS database.

 What would cause the client not to appear in the Nagios web interface, and
 how can I correct it?

 Thanks.

Here's an example (and documentation)

 about any of the sensors going out-of-range (since usually the others
 will follow over time).

 I have set a servicedependency chain from sensor 1 to 2 to ..., but that
 only helps if #1 is the first to alert.  If #2 gets hot before #1, I'll
 get an alert for #2 and then #1.  Right now, I've tried to rank them
 in order of most-likely to overheat to least-likely, but that won't
 really work.

 Is there a good solution to this?

Re: [Nagios-users] Monitoring remote hosts

2010-12-06 Thread Daniel Tuecks
Hi Rikard,

I assume you have checked the path and rights to all files.
What seems to be wrong is your 'server_args' parameter.

server_args = -c /etc/nsca.cfg .inetd

The option 'inetd' must be added via '--' and not '.'.

server_args = -c /etc/nsca.cfg --inetd

I think that should do the trick. (Don't forget to restart xinetd).

If it still doesn't work, try to start your nsca in daemon mode: As
user 'nagiosadmin' type
/usr/sbin/nsca -c /etc/nsca.cfg -d and repeat your tests.

wouldn't take a chance on the rpm package to do all of the needed

 RPM packages quite often contain trigger-scripts that handle

 Make backups before you try anything.

 May be, i'll upgrade to rhel 5 before i upgrade nagios to 3.2.3

 So, since i am gonna use the rpm, you suggest taking backups and just
 upgrading the nagios packages. Right?

 Anything apart from this that i need to take care of?

 Thanks
 Sunny

Re: [Nagios-users] nagiso compilation parameters

2006-10-08 Thread daniel . tuecks

Have a look at your Makefile. I don't think you can get this information
from the nagios binary itself.

[Nagios-users] action_url2 in your host/serviceext info

2006-10-06 Thread daniel . tuecks
Hi,i've written a little patch for nagios 2.5 that provides me an additional action_url for my host/service extinfo. I thought maybe someone at this list could make use of that, too...Download the patch here: http://mitglied.lycos.de/dtuecks/Gruesse-BestregardsDanielTuecksSystemEngineerConsultingServicesComputacenterAGCo.oHGKokkolastrasse1,40882Ratingen,GermanyPhone:+49(0)2102169-0,Fax:+49(0)2102169-1144,Mobil:+49(0)1729849877Email:[EMAIL PROTECTED]VisitusontheInternet:http://www.computacenter.deVisitourOnline-Shop:http://www.computacenter.de/connectThisemailisconfidential.Ifyouarenottheintendedrecipient,youmustnotdiscloseorusetheinformationcontainedinit.Ifyouhavereceivedthismailinerror,pleasetellusimmediatelybyreturnemailanddeletethedocument.

[Nagios-users] Antw: Re: Nagios for Server or Client?

2006-08-09 Thread Daniel Tuecks
Did you recompile nagios after you installed libgd, etc? Any compiler
errors/warnings? Maybe your gd installation isn't found? Check the output of
./configure.
You do not need any fancy server hardware to run nagios. You can use virtually
any client pc in your network - static ip address would be helpful, though :)

  i've install all libraries like libgd, libpng, libpng-devel, etc, and i've
 configure cgi.cfg httpd.conf, but the statusmap still doesn't appear in my
 nagios web interface. Is this because my computer running as a client not a
