RE: [Nagios-users] which nagios config gui are you using?

2006-03-28 Thread Dany Allard
We use monarch from groundwork http://www.itgroundwork.com/
---
GroundWork Monitor Architect (Monarch) is a free open source
configuration tool that accelerates and simplifies the deployment of the
Nagios monitoring tool, and GroundWork Monitor, GroundWork's IT
management solution based on Nagios. Monarch provides open source
software that extends and enhances Nagios and Nagios-based solutions.

Monarch is a Web-based configuration tool that enables system
administrators to more easily and rapidly set up and maintain Nagios and
GroundWork Monitor by allowing them to configure the system through a
Web-based interface rather than having to edit actual configuration
files - a time-consuming and tedious process.

System administrators are increasingly accustomed to GUI-based software
configuration tools, but Nagios still requires users to edit by hand.
With Monarch's graphical, Web-based user interface, we've bridged one of
the largest functional gaps of Nagios.

David

We are still working on getting it implemented (change
control/paperwork).
The script that was sent to the list by Terry works well enough on the
command line. We are now working on the e-mail parsing piece.
Unfortunately due to other priorities this has fallen behind a bit.
Once I have the completed solution I will post back to the list.

  Thanks

RE: [Nagios-users] Tru64 NRPE client for Nagios

Think we found the issue, the NRPE client requires SSL.
So we either need to find/edit a client not to use SSL, or install the
required SSL packages on the server.

RE: [Nagios-users] NsClient vs. NRPE_nt

2006-02-10 Thread Dany Allard

Roberto

NSClient++ includes both NsClient and NRPE
functionality. It listens on the NsClient port as well as on your NRPE port (so
no change need to be made in nagios if you are already using one of these).

The nice thing is that instead of running two
services (nsclient and nrpe) you only need to run one service. All your NRPE
commands/plugins will work with NSClient++.

NSClient++ (or NRPE) will allow you to
write local monitoring scripts, such as WMI scripts. This can be very useful if
you are running nagios on a Linux box, as nagios on Linux cannot query WMI
directly.

Hope that helps

But I could use also

But,

What are the differences? Which is the best, more secure,
more reliable, more performing way to monitor a win2000/2003 environment?

RE: [Nagios-users] Acknowledge issues via e-mail

2006-01-30 Thread Dany Allard
Andrew

I would prefer to avoid this solution if possible.
If I understand the WML interface correctly, we would need to open up a
port on our firewall for people to be able to get to this via their
mobile phones. Currently on call staff need to VPN in before they are
allowed to access the Nagios front page.

Thank you for the suggestion, however I do not think it will meet out
needs.

If their mobile phones have a web browser, you can ack alerts via
Nagios' WML interface --
http://your.nagios.com/nagios/cgi-bin/statuswml.cgi.

[Nagios-users] Acknowledge issues via e-mail

2006-01-30 Thread Dany Allard
Hello everyone

I did a few google searches, and looked through Nagiosexchange but I
was not able to find anything that would allow me to acknowledge issues
via e-mail.

What I would like to be able to do is receive and e-mail for a problem,
then be able to reply to that e-mail acknowledging the issue.
This would likely be used for on-call people to acknowledge problems
from their mobile phones.

Any input would be appreciated? Or any alternative solutions?

Thank you all for your time.

Dany Allard
