[Nagios-users] problem creating hostgroup

2010-03-11 Thread Gezina Dekker
Hi all,

When I restart after adding this host-group using split.cfg I get the
following.

Running configuration check. CONFIG ERROR! Restart aborted. Check your
Nagios configuration
I have server a definition for it. if I comment the lines out, the resatrt
is successful.

I am just missing something???

This is what my hostgroup definition looks like

define hostgroup{
hostgroup_name Linux_group
alias No_Call-Out
memberssvrlinux01
}

Any ideas that can help me out here?

I have server a definition for it. if I comment the lines out, the resatrt
is successful.

Regards and thanks for all the help so far, learned a lot,

Assaf,

Thank you fro the reply, but the command does not give me any reply-back. I
suppose it is because the problem is not in nagios .cfg, but in
hostgroup.cfg. I have tried to nverivy hostgroup.cfg this way, but it days
that the name looks suspicious...

 try running this command

this will give you some indication as to your problem.

Re: [Nagios-users] problem creatin hostgroup

2010-03-11 Thread Gezina Dekker
Thanks for all the mails.

The command below could not catch this one. You can test it yourself by
inserting a wrong name in members, and see if the command pics it up. It
does not.

The problem was that the names specified in the individual server cfg files
(first line, after define host,host_name) the host_name was
serverone.vodacom.com with an alias of serverone, and in the host_group it
was only serverone without the domain name. This mismatch caused the
problem... tricky to spot if it is the first time...

Thank you all for your help. Hope that the questions and subsequent answers
I generated will make it easier on those to try it in the future.

Regards

Gezina

[Nagios-users] NRPE install vs. SSL

2010-03-09 Thread Gezina Dekker
Hi all,

During my NRPE install on Solaris 10, I ran into the problem that the SSL
libraries are not visible to the install process. The install process is
looking for it in /usr but in effect there is a link in /usr/include/openssl
that points to /usr/sfw/include/openssl.

Some products allow you to specify parms when you install, can I do the same
here to get past this hurdle?

Thank you. very much

2010/3/9 Richard Quintin rich+nag...@quintinz.comrich%2bnag...@quintinz.com

./configure -h will list the options which includes:

 --enable-ssl enables native SSL support
--with-ssl=DIR sets location of the SSL installation
--with-ssl-inc=DIR sets location of the SSL include files
--with-ssl-lib=DIR sets location of the SSL libraries

So you should be able to do something like
 ./configure --enable-ssl --with-ssl-inc=/usr/sfw/include/openssl
 --with-ssl-lib=/usr/sfw/lib/openssl

[Nagios-users] You do not have permission to access /nagios on this server

2010-03-08 Thread Gezina Dekker
Hi all,

I have looked at all the questions so far, and nothing that brings any
comfort.

I followed the Fedore QuickStart even though I am on RHEL 4 (2.6.9-5.EL)

I have all the following installed:
Apache
PHP
GCC compiler
GD development libraries

I have nagios and nagcmd defined

I have installed nagios and the plugins

I have a passwd in htpasswd, and it is read acces for all.

SELinux is disabled

In terms of my nagios.conf, this is it…

ScriptAlias /nagios/cgi-bin /usr/local/nagios/sbin

Directory /usr/local/nagios/sbin
# SSLRequireSSL
   Options FollowSymLinks ExecCGI
   AllowOverride AuthConfig
   Order allow,deny
   Allow from all
   AuthName Nagios Access
   AuthType Basic
   AuthUserFile /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users
   Require valid-user
/Directory

Alias /nagios /usr/local/nagios/share

Directory /usr/local/nagios/share
# SSLRequireSSL
   Options FollowSymLinks
   DirectoryIndex index.html
   AllowOverride AuthConfig
   Order allow,deny
   Allow from all
   AuthName Nagios Access
   AuthType Basic
   AuthUserFile /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users
   Require valid-user
/Directory

The contents of my /share is the following:
drwxrwxr-x 9 nagios nagcmd 4096 mrt 8 11:39 .
drwx-- 12 nagios nagcmd 4096 mrt 8 11:39 ..

drwxrwxr-x 2 nagios nagcmd 4096 mrt 5 12:23 stylesheets

The errors I am getting is the following:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /nagios on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an
ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at 172.17.16.56 Port 80

I am making the assumption that the 403 is less serious, and that it is
actually the permissions that needs fixing…

Thanks in advance for your willingness to look at this with me.

I am over the first hurdle, changing the pernissions to +rx fixed it, and
nagios now gives me a signon panel, however, as I explained, it does not
 accept the nagiosadmin username.

Marc,

I installed Redhat RHEL 64bit. I made no modifications at all. The main
purpose of this box is to run this nagios test server. I just looked thru
httpd.conf, and couldn't find anything in there.
What should I be looking for? I expected it to read the value from
/usr/local/nagios/etc/htaccess.users
I even had a look at service --status-all | grep mysql, and could not find
any mysql running. This is bisarre.
I am really stuck here.

What does MySql have to do with the bak of patatoes?

That's the question only you can answer. Do you have some special/unique
Apache authentication module installed and enabled for your web server that
is overriding the standard mod_auth module? mod_auth_mysql maybe? Default
apache authentication uses text files, not MySQL. You've installed something
 special/unusual/unique/non-default. What is it?

You posted a MySQL error. The error you should be seeing will be in the
apache logs. I'm kind of confused.
