You probably want to use -w and/or -c for the thresholds. i,e,
- -c 1,1
Will return critical is any of the polled values isn't equal to 1
However if you want to alert only if they aren't equal then you'll need
something else... You can write your own plugin, but you could probably
achieve what you want with service dependencies.
I.e. set a service for one OID (AdminStatus I think) that doesn't sent
notifications (notification_interval none) and make a 2nd service for
the other OID that is dependent on the first one. Whenever you put an
interface down it will cause the 1st service to go down (without
notification) and the dependency will prevent alerts from the 2nd service.

I am using nagios 3.0 in Ubuntu 7.10 .To monitor a router with snmp
command i am using the following command
define service{
use generic-service ; Inherit values from a
template
host_name mumbai-gw1
service_description Port 1 Link Status
check_command check_snmp!-C
public -o ifOperStatus.1,ifAdminStatus.1 -r 1 -m RFC1213-MIB
}
The port is up but still it returns Critical state rather than showing OK
state .If i eliminate the -r 1 then it only gives me the info about port
status. But i need to get notified when port admin status is not equal to
operational status.
So is there any way out for this problem.

I’ve never managed to resolve the issue but moved back to 6.06 and everything was fine, so I presume was a problem with a newer version of one of the components on the server. Hi All I have installed nagvis , and made sure that all the pre-requisites are fulfilled . But still when i try to open nagvis page as per the below format i am unable to do so ! error says requested URL not present in server. http:config.php -> as given in nagvis documentation. http://localhost/usr/local/nagios/share/nagvis-1.2.2/config.php nagios server is my local host as to open nagios page i use : http://localhost/nagios path where nagvis config.php is present is usr/local/nagios/share/nagvis-1.2.2 Do I need to make any changes in the config.php file , let me know. [Nagios-users] Nagios : want to monitor second hdd in server
Dear All
I want to monitor the second HDD drive ie E drive in nagios , I am able to
get details of C drive .
I have added the service like shown below but it doesn't help.

When I had "my first nagios-day", I ran into the exactly same issue.
I monitor two linux-servers which looks like this:
define host{
use linux-server
host_name OpenVPN1
alias OpenVPN-Server Nr1
address ovpn1.somedomain.de
}
define host{
use linux-server
host_name OpenVPN2
alias OpenVPN-Server Nr2
address ovpn2.somedomain.de
}
(The template that comes with nagios is beeing used).

I have added my first windows machine as stated below , now i want to add
more machines , so do i need to add one more windows.cfg file with new
host definations or simply add hostname in present file windows.cfg
seperated by comma ,

This might seem a very stupid questions to many but still as i am new to
this, so i need some help.
Add a new host definition for the Windows machine that you're going to
monitor. If this is the *first* Windows machine you're monitoring, you can
simply modify the sample host definition in windows.cfg. Change the
host_name, alias, and address fields to appropriate values for the Windows
box.

Inherit default values from a Windows server template (make sure you keep
this line!)
host_name winserver
alias My Windows Server
address 192.168.1.2
}
Good. Now you can add some service definitions (to the same configuration
file) in order to tell Nagios to monitor different aspects of the Windows

Hi All, I am installing Nagios 3.0 in Ubuntu 7.10 OS , I extracted the nagios source code tarball , then compiled the source code successfully. Then when I type command , make install I get error messege : cannot create directory 'usr/local/nagios': permission denied If anyone is aware of this problem , Pls provide the solution.
