When you run this command from the command line it is using the
environmental variables setup in your .profile or .login I am not familiar
with the check_oracle but you will need to set the environmental variables
for the ID running the query.

Re: [Nagios-users] Oracle Applications monitor using nagios

2007-11-09 Thread joseph . petrucci
I do not have a script that will log in to the application.

I run scripts that get status's from
$COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/$CONTEXT_NAME.

I also monitor long running concurrent manager jobs through SQL.

What are you trying to monitor I can probably give you a script to do it.

[Nagios-users] socket timeout issues with check_nt

Hello,

Nagios has been running fine for us for months. After a simple change to
update the contact list, all check_nt checks are periodically failing with
socket timeouts. I have upgraded to Nagios 2.8 and I have tried increasing
the timeout to 59 seconds, but the problem is getting worse. It seems like
every second or third check cycle all the check_nt checks timeout. Then
later they will all recover.

We are running Centos 2.8 on Centos 4.3.

Thanks,
Matthew

Does anyone use anything that will go out and shutdown computers in
instances where a room is over heating or too many errors start occurring?
We've recently had a problem with heat in a server room.  I got messages
that the room was overheating, but by the time I got there the room was
really hot and all the machines were running.  I'm looking for something
that takes steps to save machines if a threshold is ever met or exceeded.

Thanks for the help!

The ID and group you start the Nagios

as well as the directory. I usually have NAgios and the group own the directory

Re: [Nagios-users] Monitoring solaris server without installing any plugin

2006-02-23 Thread joseph . petrucci

I wrote a lot of my plugins to run commands
through an RSA ssh connection from my Nagios machine to other machines.
This way there is no code on the monitored machine.

[Nagios-users] Monitoring
solaris server without installing  any
plugin

Hi List,
I want to monitor few of the
Solaris machines, but those all are production
servers and they don’t have any compiler installed on it.
Is there any way
to monitor the services
without installing any software on the
machine? If any of you have come across of the same kind of situation and
found the solution for this, then please
provide the information regarding this.

Re: [Nagios-users] services config for http

2006-02-14 Thread joseph . petrucci

./check_http --help will show you that
you can specify the port you may have to change definition in the commands
configurration file. I created a second definition check_http_443 to go
against port 443.

ON some AIX machines I setup for a client
of mine I used check_by_ssh from the NAgios machine to run the  check_proc
plugin on the AIX machine.

Hope thats a direction for you.

RE: [Nagios-users] Checking Oracle services on Windows Servers

2006-01-18 Thread joseph . petrucci

I use NSClient , look at the doc for
it you can check the service using check_nt command. you can also write
a plugin that will simply log into the instance and select * from v$instance
or any other table you want it to.

What exactly are you trying to check for? check_oracle might be what you
are
looking for if you want to see if Oracle is up. There are a couple of
plugins on Nagiosexchange as well.
