[Nagios-users] check_http -S

2006-09-14 Thread lennart.kvam

Hello all you
gurus!

I´m struggling with
check_http...
i have a webbpage
(https) that i want to check and log in to! First, is it possible with
check_http?

Iv tested and read
but dont seems to figure it out!
This is what i run
from commandline!

./check_http -H www.xnterxxx.com -u /62 -S -a
kalle:kalle

But whatever i writ
after -a works... still get :
OK - HTTP/1.1 302
Object Moved - 0.042 second response time |time=0.042236s;;;0.00
size=205B;;;0

So how do i make it
authenticate?

Thanks
Lelle

the -a is the authentication. Again, it's working fine, everything is OK.
What more do you want from it? You have requested a url (-u), from a host (-H),
and have logged in with a username and password (-a user:pass), and have
returned a status of OK back to Nagios. You even have the response time being
returned, so you know how quickly it took.

check_http --help

:)

There isn't a problem here, lol. Read the docs and get some sleep, have you
used Nagios before?

Ahhh, now see that's different. :) What is it you get exactly as the output?
More then likely the website doesn't use the ssl login, maybe it's javascript
or such. In that case you will need a different plugin that can read the
website, or something like WebInject:

http://www.nagiosexchange.org/Networking.53.0.html?tx_netnagext_pi1[p_view]=321

check_http is just returning what ever code the web server will return, so if a
failure to login, actually generates a real page instead of an error,
check_http will say everything is fine.

Sorry I didn't understand you at first, hope this helps. :)

Regards.

 define  service {
 use generic-service ; check_ping
 host_name   STSSTOSIG
 service_description PING
 is_volatile 1

Here you're telling nagios to notify for every check received that is not OK.
Your normal_check_interval is 1 so you receive a notification every minute when
the service is not OK. Remove this line or set it to 0.

Hi!
thanks for a fast answer!

 Subject: SV: [Nagios-users] Check that a process is running!

 Hi!

 I cant get it to work:-(
 I have a process qdaemon that is very critical for us! That procs
must
 run...it has 2 instances running!

 First, how do you tell nagios/check_procs to send a warning/critical
alarm
 when one or two dies?

 I try
 ./check_nrpe -H 157.180.140.xxx -n -c check_procs -w2 -c3  -u root -C
 qdaemon But still, it wont tell me if it dies, only if it starts more
 than 2!

 Sorry for my stupid question but my brain cant seems to get it:-)

 Would be thankful if you can guide me at the right way!

From check_procs --help --

Examples:
 check_procs -w 2:2 -c 2:1024 -C portsentry
   Warning if not two processes with command name portsentry. Critical
   if  2 or  1024 processes

So that's almost what you are looking for. It will warn if there not two
processes named portsentry. You want that to go strait to critical instead and
check for qdaemon  --

  check_procs -c 2:2 -C qdaemon

testing it (using different process names that match my testing
criteria) --

$ ./check_procs -c 2:2 -C sendmail
PROCS OK: 2 processes with command name 'sendmail'

$ ./check_procs -c 2:2 -C sendmailbad
PROCS CRITICAL: 0 processes with command name 'sendmailbad'

$ ./check_procs -c 2:2 -C init
PROCS CRITICAL: 1 process with command name 'init'

$ ./check_procs -c 2:2 -C nsca
PROCS CRITICAL: 14 processes with command name 'nsca'

You need to study up on pipes, stdin, stdout, etc. Standard Unix concepts.

Version 2.0b5
November 14, 2005

A whole Another question, this is my last...for this time:-)

When I log in to nagios, I always land on the home page! Is there a way to
land on tactical overview eg?

 Many thanks!

Regards
Lelle

 Why no date? :-)

Good question. I assume (since I didn't see this in a previous
message) you're using some variant of 2.0, where the $LONGDATETIME$ variable
exists. Before that it was just $DATETIME$, iirc. You may want to double check
your versions.

SV: [Nagios-users] Major notification problem

2006-02-08 Thread lennart.kvam
Hi!

Oki! But give me a clue:-) where/how?

New question, create a new mail with a relevant Subject Line.
How do I do that?

Edit the index.html/side.html to provide whatever customized views/links you
desire.
Is this in the httpd.conf file?

Sorry if this is noobish questions!
