Hi,

I also had this problem for a while, but it seems to have settled down.
I ran it under a debugger for a few days and the damn thing refused to
crash! :-)

[Nagios-users] Nagios 2.1 unstable?

2006-04-03 Thread Hugo van der Kooij
Hi,

I am just building a new server with Nagios 2.1 and it seems to topple
over quite easily. At present it only lasts about 5 to 10 seconds.

The syslog consistently shows:

Apr 3 23:40:18 arwen.waakhond.net nagios: SERVICE FLAPPING ALERT:
arwen;MYSQL;STARTED; Service appears to have started flapping (23.4%
change >= 20.0% threshold)
Apr 3 23:40:18 arwen.waakhond.net nagios: Caught SIGSEGV, shutting
down...

The package installed based on XOS/Linux 4 and the recent package from
DAG.

I have a gut feeling flap detection is the problem. So I disabled it and
it seems to hold on for now.

 - Packages:
nagios-2.1-1.el4.rf
nagios-plugins-1.4.2-1.2.el4.rf

It seems this might be also present in nagios 2.0 as nagios died sometime
on another server and i have scheduled a restart each night just to be
sure for that server.

Anone else have stability issues with flap detection on nagios 2.x?
