[Nagios-users] Nagios and exception monitoring
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Is there any way to configure Nagios to only show the exceptions on the service detail and associated pages? I only ask as we have many machines and although we can sort by status, it isn't the default sort so if you change pages, you must re-sort and it would be nice to configure Nagios to only show exceptions, like Critial and Warnings at the top and all the machines that are in good status at the bottom. Re: [Nagios-users] Nagios and exception monitoring
You can do this in Nagios Looking Glass (a portal viewer for Nagios), you can set a filter so it only shows you hosts that have problems (and is refreshed at regular intervals so you can leave it on screen.) It might not be exactly what you're after, but worth a look? www.nagioslookingglass.co.uk Scott Micciche wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Is there any way to configure Nagios to only show the exceptions on the service detail and associated pages? It might not be exactly what you're after, but worth a look? www.nagioslookingglass.co.uk I have been watching the looking glass project for a while now, and find that feature interesting. Can you increase the number of hosts displayed on the main page? I am looking at the idea of using a large LCD display ( 40 inch or larger ) on the wall in our IT department to display the current network status. Could looking glass display the status of 80+ hosts on one page if the resolution was set high enough? ___ Jason Shein Network Administrator – Linux Systems Iovate Health Sciences Inc. 5100 Spectrum Way Mississauga, ON L4W 5S2 ( 905 ) - 678 - 3119 x 3136 1 - 888 - 334 - 4448,x 3136 (toll-free) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Customer Service. Sort of... You can manipulate the filters to show subsets of problem types. For example, the following will show all un-acknowledged service problems in WARNING or CRITICAL state. We use this as our default Service Problems link -- http://you-nagios-host/cgi-bin/status.cgi?host=alltype=detailservicest atustypes=20hoststatustypes=3serviceprops=42 servicestatustypes -- 4 (WARNING) + 16 (CRITICAL) = 20 2 == OK 4 == WARNING 8 == UNKNOWN 16 == CRITICAL Hoststatustypes -- 1 (Pending) + 2 (UP) = 3 1 == Pending 2 == UP 4 == DOWN 8 == UNREACHABLE Serviceprops and hostprops can be found around line 272 of include/cgiutils.h (too many for me to write here). For the example above, 42 means Not In Scheduled Downtime Has Not Been Acknowledged Active Checks Enabled Many of the interesting combinations can be reached just by following links on the Tactical Overview. -- Marc - Take Surveys.
