NRPE works only one direction.

you make a request through check_nrpe (remotely) to NRPE daemon that
runs wherever (in your case on mac server)

if you looking sort of passing checking look into Nagios NSCA

So,

The request is from the nagios server to the client running nrpe i.e pulling
the information from the nrpe client?
