dear arin hostfolk. could we please have the histogram for the last few years
where the Y axis is the amount of allocation and the X axis is the number of
organizations with that total size of new allocations during the period?
you'll have to bucket alloc size in some useful way, probably a /16 or shorter
or something.

RE: ip swip look up

2005-01-06 Thread Leslie Nobile

Hi Blake-

One way to find your company's assigned resources (whether they be direct
assignments or swips) is by querying ARIN's Whois database. There are a
variety of commands and wildcards that you can use to produce the results
you are seeking.

For example, is you want to see all resources assigned to your company, you
would use the * wildcard by going to ARIN's Whois and typing in Xtreme*.
This will produce a long list of results which you will need to search
through in order to determine exactly which ones are assigned to your
particular company.

Here are url's to ARIN's Whois help page, and to an ARIN tutorial that
details how to use the WHOIS:

ARIN 2002-3 statistics

2004-11-15 Thread Leslie Nobile

A recent question has come up on this list regarding the
number of organizations that have qualified for IPv4 addresses under policy
2002-3 “Address Policy for Multi-homed Networks.

Since its implementation in May 2004, ARIN has been tracking
the number of allocations and assignments (/21s and /22s) made under this policy very
closely.  Here are the statistics as of Oct. 31, 2004:

# of Organizations qualified:   80

# of Allocations to ISPs   61

# of Assignments to End Users:  27

One other option that is worth mentioning.. If you are an Arin member
(i.e. you have an ASN) then you can use Arin's Route registry services.
These services are currently free to members.

Registry is worth it, but you might want to think about a free DB (if
you are small) or setting up your own with the free irrd
software. There is nothing more magical about the RADB than any other
member of the IRR.

Just in case they don't, or if you'd rather be provider neutral in case
you switch providers or worry the current one will get bought / go
under,
there's altdb.net (totally free), and IIRC, ARIN has their own routing
registry, which I think is free for ARIN members to use.
