Summary: Fortigate 300A

2005-02-22 Thread Priyantha P Kumara
Thanks for all the responses.
(However, I didn't get as much responses as I expected)
Here is the summary:
Total responses Received: 05
(including one works for a Fortigate competitor and one for a reseller)
Comments varies from "very bad product" to "I'm impressed".
Certain GUI problems were mentioned.
Also mentioned that it was not capable of handling Dial-up traffic.
Works fine as a managed firewall for an ISP.
Operates fine in both transparent and routing/NAT modes
* The bottom Line: Acceptable product, watch-out for some GUI pit-falls.
We however, decided to go for it

Cisco switch CPU overload

2004-03-17 Thread Priyantha

I've a core switch (cisco 5505) with 10+ VLANs configured on that and a
cisco 7204 directly connected to it. 7204 then connects to my upstream and
we run BGP. we announce two different /21 blocks and was fine until last
week.

We got new /20 IP block and we advertised it (added to 7204 config).
Everything is working fine but since than we see CPU overload from time to
time on 5505. The following further explains the physical connection.

|---| |---|
Internal| |---| |>Upstream
<-|5505 | |7204 |
|---| |---|

We have Rip (ver 2) running on 5505 but not on 7204. (Those two are not
talking any routing protocols each other.)
I can't figure out the reason but want urgently get this resolved. You may
contact me off list too for further info necessary.

Thanks in advance,

I can access it from Canada, but it seems that the first page is missing
some info which are typically there.

The AVScanner should indicate that the file couldn't scan because it is
password protected and hence opening the file may be risky.

Server mirroring

2003-11-27 Thread Priyantha

As a part of business continuity plan we are going to have all our servers
replicated in a different place to which a fiber connection is available.
(Currently its running at 100Mb) Servers are running mostly RH Linux 7.2 to
8.x and couple of Win 2000 servers too.

I'm looking for a non-expensive software solution for this task.

Your help is appreciated,

Priyantha

Subject: Activity logging & archiving tool

In my company, there are several technical guys make changes to the existing
network and it's very difficult to keep track of what we did when, etc.

I'm looking for a simple tool, in which each and every one has to manually
record whatever (s)he has done or any incident (s)he observed so that the
tool archives that data someway. Later, in case if someone needs, (s)he
should be able to search for that archive by date, by person, by a random
phrase, etc.

Any help in this regard is appreciated,
