Re: dealing with w32/bagle
dropload.com seems to me to be the perfect model for anonymous file delivery over the internet. Their system doesn't use SSL yet, but it would be the logical next step. Here is their description: Dropload is a place for you to drop your files off and have them picked up by someone else at a later time. Recipients you specify are sent an email with instructions on how to download the file. Files are removed from the system after 48 hours, regardless if they have been picked up or not. Recipients can be anyone with an email address The whole system uses HTTP for the transfer, no FTP hassles. Putting the files into an obscurely named and unlinked directory of a website will normally be as good as necessary. The sender still has to mess with ftp, unless he has a web-based uploading system at his disposal (see fotopic.net for an example user interface). If you are prepared to concede that both parties must be subscribed to the same online community (be it Yahoo-Groups-alike or a messenger product) then the possibilities are endless, and many are not beyond granny's capabilities. -- Roland Perry -- Stephen Milton - Founder/VP Internet (425) 881-8769 x102 ISOMEDIA.COM - Premium Internet Services(425) 869-9437 Fax [EMAIL PROTECTED]http://www.isomedia.com
Re: Possibly yet another MS mail worm
Yes, I got that one too. To my peering alias by coincidence. ClamAV identifies it as Worm.Bagle.A2. ClamAV added it the database today, and mentioned that it was not in most signature databases yet. I don't have more info yet, but my $orkplace has just been hit by it and it's unknown to McAfee and Symantec at this time. It's not W32.Netsky, as best I can tell, because of the attachment filename: this one uses things like accabaacc.zip that are new to me. I don't have more info on it at this time, but will try to snare a sample in transit if it hits my home system. Cisco OC-3c card question
What is the most cost effective equipment to use to connect two locations with an OC-3c circuit? I currently have 7206VXR routers at both ends, so would prefer slot cards for those if feasible. Excuse my ignorance, but I can't get hold of any pre-sales support at Cisco because the worms are overloading their phone reps. -Steve -- Stephen Milton - Founder/VP Internet (425) 881-8769 x102 ISOMEDIA.COM - Premium Internet Services(425) 869-9437 Fax [EMAIL PROTECTED]http://www.isomedia.com
Sources for cheap/used lan testing equipment?
Checked ebay, and there wasn't much available. Need something for 10/100 ethernet cable testing, as well as diagnostics. Like Fluke LanMeter 685 or such. TIA. Steve Milton ISOMEDIA.COM
Odd DNS responses for www.neopets.com
Maybe it's just me, but isn't there something odd about a DNS query coming back with 78 entries for the same host? It sends back an UDP packet that gets truncated and the DNS resolver reverts to TCP to get the full list. It seems to cause problems with Windows clients and/or Windows DNS servers. Seems like overkill. And don't forget to check for a conspicuously absent article on the front page of www.msn.com.
