Are there any 4to6 gateway available? I have assigned v6 space. Because I'm pedantic, 6to4 and 6in4 are two different things. It sounds like you want 6in4. They use the same encapsulation, but 6to4 has specific magic in how the outer IPv4 destination is built, taken from the inner IPv6 destination address. 6over4 is different again. The reason I ask is that I'm kind of attracted to the MGE Galaxy and its paralleling N+1 capability. I had a bad experience with a frame shorting out a few years ago after it went into bypass but didn't shut off the inverter output; hilarity ensued. It seems like the Galaxy and Smart VT overlap, although the Galaxy has better specs on paper. I was also recommended a Symmetra PX 80kW frame. I asked my rep and they were kind of ambiguous about the MGE line, hence my redirect of the question here. ~Seth

See, now thats what I like to hear after an acquisition like this. You expect a certain redundancy but to have it said that, "we're not merely interested in the underlying technology, we like the products just the say they are and have no plans to change them (except maybe to standardize the management software interface," or something along those lines is a darned good thing. 'cause lemme tell ya, I like the MGE systems I have and am very glad to hear that APC thinks MGE gear is just ducky. -Wayne On Mon, Jul 13, 2009 at 03:51:11PM -0500, ryan.sla...@tac.com wrote: > Take this with the grain of salt that I do not work for APC, but for a > sister company. RE: MGE UPS Systems
We asked our local APC rep that exact question last week. He told us that the MGE line of UPSes fill a whole that APC doesn't have in their own lineup, and they will continue being sold as the product for folks absolutely require a typical double-conversion online UPS. As opposed to the 'hybrid' model of the Symmetra... It didn't sound to me like they were planning on getting rid of the MGE line at this point. - Erik -Original Message- From: Seth Mattinen [mailto:se...@rollernet.us] Sent: Monday, July 13, 2009 2:43 PM To: nanog@nanog.org Subject: MGE UPS Systems I'm curious if anyone might know what the future of the MGE line of UPS systems are. Schneider Electric bought MGE late 2003 Schneider Electric bought APC late 2006 (and merges APC/MGE product line, which has overlap) Schneider Electric sold "small" MGE product line to Eaton late 2007 (these are the office/small business type UPSs, as I recall, and overlapped the APC consumer/office/small business offerings). I do not know the plans regarding how Schneider Electric will deal with the remaining overlap in the high end APC/MGE UPS business.

RE: MGE UPS Systems
While I still have a bunch of MGE Comet systems running, we did take one electrical room and replace them with Symmetra PX's, It did require some conduit work as they were moved from the wall to the center (but they are not as deep as a Comet) , to give the required cleareances. These are not your typical bottom of the rack units (although they come in their own racks). We have them equipped for 125KVA Love the Comet's, I would check with APC regarding product lifecycle. -Original Message- From: Seth Mattinen [mailto:se...@rollernet.us] Sent: Monday, July 13, 2009 3:43 PM To: nanog@nanog.org Subject: MGE UPS Systems I'm curious if anyone might know what the future of the MGE line of UPS systems are. I heard the MGE product set was designed to replace the "typical/old" UPS product sets, like the Silcon Series, and that APC branded units would be concentrated on the "Symmetra" product line. Keep in mind the Symmetras above around 30kva are self contained units that are really racked in the same rack as other equipment.

H3C Switches/Routers
Nanog, I was just looking at the H3C 12500 enterprise product for which I received a slideshow presentation on its features and comparisons to Nexus 7018, Foundry/Brocade RX32, Juniper EX8218 and Force10 E1200. It does not look like they have a significant market share but make a lot of bold claims on side-by-side comparisons to comparable products from their competition. Is anyone using H3C products (enterprise or otherwise) here at all? If so, what are your thoughts on them? Are there any noticeable drawbacks? Performance issues? Support? Just an overall summary would be nice. Thanks, Justin Krejci
3rd Party Router Comparisons and Testing
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has a good, trusted, non-partial source for 3rd party testing and/or comparisons of the major routing hardware vendors. I'm willing to pay for a subscription / membership to an organization if the information is well assembled recent. Specifically, I'd like (love) to see a comparison between Juniper MX series, Cisco 6500/7600 series, Brocade XMR/MLX series, and any others that I don't even know about. If your company has recently (say the past 18 months?) completed an analysis and you can provide the results, I can keep them private (this is only for my use, not official decision making). Does anyone happen to have a source they would be willing to pass along? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! -- Brad Fleming Kansas Research and Education Network

RE: OEMs for X2 10G LAN PHY optics
Yeah, just don't ask a certain female sales person there for more than a few quotes without buying... I was utterly embarrassed while dealing with NHR - never been told off by a commissioned sales person before. Requested a series of quotes on a Cisco GSR and made it very clear we already had a preferred supplier, but that I would give NHR a chance in the quotes. Their pricing was off a bit and the job went to a competitor - she freaked out on me. I have never dealt with them since. It was the most immature dealing with a company I have ever encountered, and this goes back several years now - and I'm still pissed. When I took this to their management team I was promised a phone call from their CEO and never got it. Since I talked to a senior management person and asked to removed from their internal lists - had *many* of their sales people continue to call and pester me. They finally got that part right and have not heard from anyone since (nor do I EVER wish to). Either they don't exist, or my Google-fu is particularly bad this morning. I'm trying to get my toes wet with IPv6. I've established an internal 6to4/4to6 tunnel. I'd also like to have a testbed for access to public v6 sites. I'm also trying to find some clue at my upstreams, but figured I'd ask here as well. Are there any 4to6 gateway available? I have assigned v6 space. Thanks,

I'd suggest looking at FluxLight (www.fluxlightinc.com) for this. Their sales and support process is nothing short of stellar, and pricing is a fair medium between "paying too much for vendor optics" and "fly-by-night eBay imports". To wit, all of their products Just Worked without ever needing Cisco's infamous 'service unsupported-transceiver' vendor lock override. -a The contents of this email message and any attachments are confidential and are intended solely for the addressee. Re: AT&T and having two BGP peers
Use a /30 across the circuit and do multihop BGP using other IPs.
