Something as simple as changing to the below, would have more easily triggered

You just stopped reading after the part you liked :)

The "fee waiver" is that they're allowing a 3x-small org to grow into a
2x-small org's worth of v6 space while staying at the 3x-small org annual
fee.

Presumably, you could request a /40, and then request another (and
another...), and as long as you have a /36 or less worth of v6 space,
you'll still only owe $250/year for the IPv6 space until this "deal"
expires at the end of 2026.

Council (AC). Candidates elected to full terms are expected to serve three-year

outlined in the following guidance letters:

will not be eligible for consideration.

Nomination Process and Election Slate Development

For detailed information on the ARIN Election nomination process, please visit:
https://www.arin.net/participate/oversight/elections/processes/#iv-nominations-process

For 2023, the process for evaluating nominees is notably different. The
Nomination Committee (NomCom) is responsible for helping in the recruitment of
individuals to self-nominate for the election. All nominees must self-nominate
and complete all nomination materials to be considered for the Initial
Candidate Slate. Nominees will be evaluated and assessed by an independent,
third-party vendor, and all qualified nominees will appear on the ballot. The
evaluation of qualifications will be based on the nominee questionnaire
responses, background checks (Board only) and interviews, and the guidance
letters received from the Board and AC.

The Candidate Slate will include at least five candidates for the Board and at
least seven candidates for the AC. The open seats up for election will include
three three-year term seats and one one-year term seat for the Board; for the
AC, there will be five three-year term seats and one one-year term seat. Seats
with partial terms are filled by the nonelected candidate who possesses the
highest number of votes cast for the position and who is willing to serve.

Additional information about the Nomination Process:

  *   NomCom members:
https://www.arin.net/about/welcome/board/committees/#nomination-committee-nomcom
  *   NomCom Charter:

Initial Slate

With the completion of its qualification classification process, the NomCom
will provide an Initial Slate of Candidates for the Board and AC based on the
assessments and information provided by the third-party vendor. The only
nominees not included on this initial slate will be individuals who were
classified as “Unable to Qualify” based on the evaluation criteria. ARIN will
announce the Initial Slate of Candidates on Tuesday, 5 September 2023.

Absolutely out of region organizations can establish an Organization ID and
record with ARIN. They should be asked if it is for reallocation purposes and
once that is answered affirmatively then ARIN will create the record. At this
time ARIN does require a $50 dollar fee as well as the organization must sign
an RSA. Please reach out if you or anyone else has other questions.

Subject: ARIN ORG ID for non-ARIN region company

Hello,

Does anybody know if it possible to create ARIN ORG ID for non-ARIN region
company?

We are LACNIC region based. In LACNIC as well as RIPE regions the RIRs allow
creation of ORG IDs for non-region companies for purposes of IP reallocations,
etc. (e.g. IPv4 lease, etc.).

I have gone to ARIN ORG ID registration page but it says only ARIN region
companies can register in ARIN. We need this for purposes of IPv4 reallocation
of our IPv4 leased subnets so also the contact handles are reallocated to us.

ARIN asks me to pay for creation of ORG ID, but I would lose the payment if the
request is denied.

We do not plan to request any resources, no ASN or IP resources will be
requested through that ORG ID, it's only to allow for full IPv4 reallocation
(including contact handles).

Thank you for any input.

Regards,
George

It has been long time since I had to deal with RIRs and this week I had to do
several things in ARIN. The support has team was very quick responding, very
useful with their recommendations to my questions, and had a great attitude
towards solving problems. I can certainly say they went above and beyond when I
opened a ticket with wrong request type and they asked me if they can close it

John - there is a discrepancy with the registration of AS19111 that ARIN is
working through with the organization that it was originally assigned to on
11/20/2000. Once the discrepancy is corrected then the registration will be
visible in whois. Having worked at several ISPs I would point out that
customers are not normally cut off strictly based on a discrepancy with whois
or any other database. We would usually work with our customers to help correct
the discrepancy without disrupting their business. The other interesting thing
that you pointed out is that the IPs belong to the upstream in this case so
they most likely have a good idea of who is announcing them to their AS. ARIN
always cautions on the side of "not disrupting" business and to help correct
discrepancies and keep the Internet running.

How does one register their routes in the Rpki? If the routes are in the Arin
database under the proper company name is that sufficient? *Ducks*

TJ and all,

To participate in RPKI with ARIN, your organization would need to have Internet
number resources directly registered and those Internet number resources must
be covered under a Registration Services Agreement (RSA) or a Legacy RSA. In
addition, participation in RPKI will require that you have an ARIN Online
account, linked to an Admin or Tech Point of Contact (POC) on the Organization
Identifier (Org ID) that contains the Internet number resources to be certified.

Our “Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI)” is a great jumping off point to
get started with certifying your Internet number resources.

If you would like any assistance verifying your eligibility for RPKI
participation or would like additional information on getting started with
RPKC, please call our Registration Services Helpdesk at 703.227.0660. Our
hours of operation are Monday – Friday, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm eastern time.

Seems like very low hanging fruit with a lot of benefit and a good ROI

I'd continue and say in-addr.arpa or the like for resource certification

Re: Force10 E300 vs. Juniper MX480

2008-07-18 Thread John Sweeting
I certainly agree with Keith and we are pushing a lot of traffic through our
Force10 boxes i.e. E1200's, E600's and a few E300's. As a company they are wery
responsive and easy to work with. Dual cam is definitely recommended.

Force 10 is fine. I do suggest he go with the dual cam cards over the regular
cards. I am not sure what Chris is talking about but I have used Force 10 for a
long time, E, C and S series and have found it very stable. It will do
everything you want and then some. The E300 is a good bang for the buck. Sure
Foundry might be cheaper but I hear more complaining about Foundry than any
other platform.

Chris you want to share what issues you have seen with Force 10.

was chasing packets, it was flesh-tone JPEGs.)

He's looking at the MX480 and the E300.

The MX480 is attractive because the M7i has been stable as a rock, and
 he's familiar with JUNOS.

The E300 is attractive because it's half the price of the MX480, and has
the potential to hold layer-2 cards as well as layer-3 ports which makes
the price per port much more reasonable than the MX480. But he has no
experience with Force10 at any ISO layer higher than 2.

He doesn't have any exotic requirements beyond OSPF, OSPFv3, BGP, IP and
IPv6. There's no MPLS in the picture, for example. However, he's going
to want four or five full tables plus a moderate load of peering routes
 in there. And maybe VRRP.

Thoughts from people who have tried one or the other, or both? Or who
have faced this kind of problem, and came up with a different answer?

Feel free to send mail off-list; I can summarise if there is interest.

 Joe

I would avoid Force10 if at all possible. In the network I managed I've
had some fairly surprising stability problems with their S series
switches and feature problems (or lack there of) on their E series.
Things you kind of scratch your head at and wonder what they were
thinking. Juniper on the other hand is indeed a bit pricier but quite a
stable platform. If he has to look at alternatives I would suggest
Foundry, either the RX-8, MLX-8, or XMR-8000 (depending on requirements)
for comparable models to the MX480.

Chris
