Trouble Playing Multiplayer Games from Reallocated IP Space
Hey NANOG, We have seen an issue where our customers who have IP addresses that are directly allocated to us can play online multiplayer games (NBA2k, NBA2k21, Fallout 76, and Stardew Valley were mentioned specifically) but when they have an IP that was reallocated to us by one of our Upstreams (Server Central), these games no longer work. I know NBA2k is behind Prolexic, but not sure about the others. 2k Games says that we, the ISP, must be blocking something, but there’s absolutely no difference in how data moves from our internet edge to the customer whether they have one of our IPs or one of the reallocated ones. We noticed that one geocoding provider has our reallocated IPs flagged as “hosting” IPs and maybe 2k is using some metadata like that to block our IPs. Does anyone have a contact at Prolexic who might be able to help? Thanks, Tim Nowaczyk -- Timothy Nowaczyk | Senior Network Manager office 703.554.6622 | mobile 571.318.9434
Fiber Automatic Transfer Switch
I am new to the world of layer-1optical failover solutions. I came across the NTT-AT Intelligent Optical Switch [1] while researching products that can be used to automatically switch a fiber path on link failure. Do any of you have experience with this particular product? Can anyone recommend a similar 1U product that can transfer an optical signal to a secondary path when there’s been a break? Take-Two Interactive Software NOC Contact
Network Engineer for a small ISP here. Our customers seem to be having connectivity issues with Take-Two Software, specifically NBA 2k20. Traceroute makes it to Akamai Prolexic before being dropped. Does anyone have contact info for someone at Take-Two? Thanks, Tim Nowaczyk -- Timothy Nowaczyk | Senior Network Manager office 703.554.6622 | mobile 571.318.9434 <http://www.allpointsbroadband.com/>
