We have Google ISP Portal access. We updated our geo-location feed file as they requested: http://noc.ilan.net.il/GGC/iucc-geo-feed-for-google.csv 15 of 16 prefixes were processed on April 30. Till today all our users in Israel are still located in Iceland and have now started to learn Icelandic in order to complete Google pages. Regards, Hank The issues that others had earlier this month just hit us this morning. Users in Israel (132.74.0.0/15) trying to access Google.com or Youtube.com appear as coming from Iceland (see screenshot). Change happened overnight. Someone internally in Google's geo-location group typo'ed Israel as Iceland. We have GGC access and Google ISP Portal access but why should we have to change the geolocation which worked well since forever just because someone internally messed up? Regards, Hank
Re: Google IP Geolocation
Hi Hank, I reported it against the /15 you supplied, since I agree you shouldn't have to! Internal bug reference for Google is bug 186090498. If others have gone via Google's NOC, mentioning that reference to the NOC may help get your "me too" on the list, but if it is a systemic .IL -> .IS hopefully we can clean them all up without needing to be told about each one. thanks, Phil Sykes (day job: Google Networking SRE) On Thu, Apr 22, 2021 at 10:06 AM Hank Nussbacher wrote: > On 22/04/2021 11:36, Hank Nussbacher wrote: > > The issues that others had earlier this month just hit us this morning. > > > > Users in Israel (132.74.0.0/15) trying to access Google.com or > > Youtube.com appear as coming from Iceland (see screenshot). > > > > Change happened overnight. The portal account isn't even the be all and end all of fixing this, we're telling google where our endpoints are explicitly with a geofeed, The portal says the clients are in the right location and for some reason it's still decided some of our IPs are on the other side of the world. Yup. I've had this problem with Google for two years now. "We're Google. We know better than you. We're not interested in discussion. We're also having similar issues - Google is detecting our Singapore IP range as coming from HK, and our HK Ip range as coming from Vietnam Just applied for access to Google's ISP portal - let's see what happens. it feels like google implemented some sort of new system recently; we have seen 4, 5 providers complaining their IPs being redirect to google Hong Kong just over the last few days. two of our /23s also have the same symptoms; all clients being redirected to google Hong Kong, plus the permanently-enabled safe search. youtube premium also doesn't work. access request to the isp portal also goes nowhere. > On Mar 29, 2021, at 2:55 PM, Michael K. It seems that Geofeed is no longer working starting last week. Can confirm this with other few server providers with VPN customers. The geolocation is now the user's REAL location like Asia or Mid-East while the IP itself is in the US. Re: Google IP Geolocation
I am *NOT* complaining about my IPs currently being geo located wrong today/recently. I'm just trying to work with Google for our newer coming IPs in the future in the event that it does have problems. Until recently, all of our IPs were new from ARIN and that's not something that will be the case for future expansion. Someone from Google did message me offlist to take a look at it and possibly get me an account to work with them for these issues. I feel sorry for those that are currently having issues. Hopefully you can get it fixed one way or another sooner rather than later. Yep, that's what I finally got. This is a pretty major issue for me and also shows a massive failing on Google.. I'm a VPS hosting provider, and despite no change in geolocation from any other vendor, no changes in the whois on either my ASN or my IP subnets, google is now redirecting to Google Hong Kong (likely due to Asian clients using VPNs from their phones)..
