I got a two floor parking ram and a surface lot, so in a nut shell I have to do this twice. Two separate wifi links, two PoE switches 4-6 cameras at each location plus the entrance gates all IP enabled. Re: Rugged wireless bridge
Andrey, Some of the UBNT gear have two ethernet ports, some models pass PoE, some don't. What I would do is to get a switch with or without PoE, put them into a NEMA 4 enclosure. Then put water-proof ethernet feedthrough bushings on the enclosure. How many locations do you have to do this at? -Mike On Wed, May 12, 2010 at 3:53 PM, Andrey Khomyakov < khomyakov.and...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi all again > > Thanks for all the links. Re: Rugged wireless bridge
Hi all again Thanks for all the links. Lots of wifi solutions. The main problem I'm facing is the fact that I need more than one copper ethernet connection at those outdoor locations. Meaning that I'll have at least two or three IP cameras (PoE desired) and a automatic security gate. So, I feel like some outdoor rated copper ethernet switches with PoE is the hardest part here. Anyone came across any 5-8 port PoE switches that can be put outdoors? thanks again

Re: Rugged wireless bridge
Hey Andrey, I've deployed Cisco Aironet 1300's for specifically what you're looking to do (as well as remote ATM connectivity). They are robust and have great centralized management tools if you have a large deployment. They're also very flexible and obviously have great support from the manufacturer. I've had multiple issues with the WAP200E units in the field-- from the Internal PoE cabling being crushed and not working properly, to finding some of the internal antennas wern't even soldered to the PCB properly. I'd definitely +1 on the ubiquiti stuff. however, they've been extremely solid. If it is going into a FIPS compliant deployment or there is legal impact of this system I would suggest something like the FortressTech ES520 which is approved for military rollout in battlefield applications. These are NOT cheap but you get what you pay for in todays world hopefully. The case the 520 is packaged in is unlike any other WAP I have worked with and we used them quite a bit for wireless-time services. http://www.fortresstech.com/Products/SecWiBridges.aspx Todd Glassey >> >> Thanks, >> Andrey >> >> -- >> Andrey Khomyakov >> [khomyakov.and...@gmail.com] >> > > > <>
