Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Blue Magic Nixie Watch
If your goal is the comparison of brightness, perhaps you can think of something else which would be easier to photograph that would work as a point of reference. -Adam On Fri, May 18, 2012 at 10:59 PM, Cobra007 mic...@xiac.com wrote: That is an option or else I was thinking of making 2 separate pictures, both showing the watch and the moon at the same time. [neonixie-l] Re: Blue Magic Nixie Watch
I gave it a shot Adam, with an exposure time of 3 seconds there is not much more to see in the picture than some vague street lights So I thought better just take the watch by itself in total darkness with a 3 seconds exposure time. The result is here: http://xiac.com/Images/KoprisoNW3SecExp.jpg 6mA battery current, unbelievable, what a stunning result! At least you won't be blinded by the light if you want to check the time in the middle of the night :-). Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Blue Magic Nixie Watch
Michel, really nice work! At least you won't be blinded by the light if you want to check the time in the middle of the night :-). Very reasonable, happens to me all the time with my LED binary watch. Jens -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. [neonixie-l] Re: Blue Magic Nixie Watch
Thanks Dieter Jens, LED watches have indeed the same problem. I made a domino watch some time ago: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Domino-Watch/290040851018314 Not as stunning as the Nixie Watch but I incorporated the same trick with an ambient light sensor otherwise it really is a shock when you check the time in the middle of the night. Hey, that clock is neat! Still too large for my wrist, though ;-) Do you have a website with your projects? Jens Thanks Dieter Jens, LED watches have indeed the same problem. [neonixie-l] Re: Blue Magic Nixie Watch
Too large?? I think it is too small :-). I tried to make it as small as possible and in my opinion it ended up to be too small :-). I want to make a new design in the future (you know, one day) but then a normal size domino tile (2 x 1) No, I have no website with projects, I am more or less snowed under with all the things I do already :-). (maybe one day) I made this clock in 2008, still running :-): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-0yBt9ZQMk Michel On May 19, 10:22 pm, jb-electronics webmas...@jb-electronics.de wrote: Hey, that clock is neat! On May 18, 4:16 am, Imbanon imba.a...@gmail.com wrote: Anyone knows where to find these? I think that they are very beautiful when the red coating is taken off. What prices can I expect? I am not currently planning to buy any, just want to know for the future. Thank you! I bought a few hundred from Ask Jan First a couple years ago, hoping to liquidate most of his supply, but ran out of money before succeeding :-) They are very clear and crisp looking tubes. That is why I like them. I care a lot about good looking tubes. ZM1210 are much, much better than the Soviet construction tubes. I wouldn't plan to buy your Nixies in the future. The ZM1210 are significantly more expensive now than when I collected a bunch. They might simply be out of stock when the day comes that you want to buy some. It's actually surprizing that Jan still has stock, considering that these tubes are still priced VERY reasonably, and compared to IN-8 (the most directly comparable Russian tube), are a little more expensive, a little smaller digit size, but much prettier looking display! I'll take the ZM1210 over IN-8 any day. BTW, I have had 6 of these running for about 7 years now, about 16 hours per day, in my one and only Nixie clock. They are still working fine. I turned up the voltage a little bit 2 years ago because they seemed just slightly dimmer than in the beginning. They may last many more years still. Have fun. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. To post to this group, send an email to neonixie-l@googlegroups.com.
