[neonixie-l] Re: trading nixies?

2017-06-11 Thread 'Terry S' via neonixie-l
I had 5 minutes to look thru my tubes.

I found :
a handful of DT1704 type VFD tubes, Some labeled Flurotrons.
DR2000 numitrons RCA
DA2110 numitrons Apollo
60 HP LED displays -- with built in decoders --5082-7331
Mostek MK50250 clock chips
a clock display with 6 Burroughs large-is nixie tubes, the display is in a
metal housing, rack mount, labeled hours, minutes, seconds. Ask for a pic.
Some symbol tubes, from a multimeter
Some smaller Burroughs, Mullard,, and Rodan tubes
A bunch of IN-12 and IN-18, a couple 7971s.
More I'm certain.

Terry

[neonixie-l] Re: Well I tried, big tubes on ebay this am

2017-06-11 Thread Robert L
Michael - Thanks for the comments! I do like the IN-17, it's just too small
if they will be used for both the buddy tube and seconds.

I have some 6091 which would be a nice choice for the seconds...

As far as long life, the 7011 tubes will not be run often and certainly not
when there's no one there to appreciate them! Direct drive as well - no
multiplexing.

Best regards,
Bob

IN-17's have a normal 5. They're neat little tubes. ...nothing wrong with
the Western counterparts (4997/4998) either. :)

BTW - Was glad to hear that the 7011-like tubes worked. They're either
very early tubes and/or handmade prototypes. I wouldn't expect them to be
long life tubes. It's great to see them running though!

Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Four NL-8091 on ebay

2017-06-11 Thread Dekatron42
Looking closely at the photos with the digits in auction 112434355542 it
looks like there is a lot of corrosion on the metal digits, there are a lot
of white and grey areas - does anyone know what it is and how it affects
expected lifetime of these Nixies?

In the other auction 322547684051 with the four 8091's in white boxes I can
see 7406 stamped on the side of one of the tubes and that is probably the
date code.

/Martin
