I just snagged the tubes, so no pressure!

Grahame, I also have a nice old scope (a CY-1300/U) that is just itching to be
turned into a clock. I believe a guy called Justin has already been talking to
you about almost the same thing - he has the same scope. It was also your site
that showed me that VR tubes existed, so you’ve got a lot to answer for!

Several other projects on the go before I get around to the scope clock though.

They work like many gas tubes, they're insulating until the breakover voltage
is reached, then they ionize and conduct, which limits the voltage. They're
used to protect electronics from voltage spikes. Most of the ones these days
are boring ceramic ones, instead of the cute little glass ones like that.

The only vendor I've found that lists the glass ones these days is Okaya, but
I'm not having a lot of luck actually buying any.

available in a few months time. We need to get the E1T kit finished first.
I should be able to post pictures of the dekatron clock prototype in a few

tube drivers changed out, a Higher voltage PSU and no heater supply,
obviously. It also shares a lot of the firmware with the E1T clock, with

Antique Electronic Supply offers both individual boxes in a variety of sizes,
and "eggcrate" dividers along with boxes to hold them. That's what I'm using.

Here is something else fun from eBay. Price for these IN-18 seem typical but
check out the packaging.

I wish someone would sell a kit for a 6-8 Dekatron Clock. I know there is s
blog describing how someone built their own but I was hoping for something
already engineered.
I have also seen them on YouTube

Any thoughts?

[neonixie-l] Where to buy tube boxes

2019-05-10 Thread alex nolan
What are people doing with loose tubes in their collections? I've been
wrapping mine in bubble wrap but have been wanting to start putting them in
tube boxes designed to hold them.

Does anyone know where I can buy tube boxes for relatively cheap?

Thanks

It has been relabeled on the front, but not in the back where is spells
