Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Antique Soviet nixie clock resurrection

2020-06-16 Thread Kevin A.
You're absolutely right. This was made well before the internet existed.
Whoever engineered the original clock was quite the craftsman and probably
and engineer professionally as well.

The plywood did look awful when I first got it, but with some sanding,
fresh stain and finishing it looks decent enough. Certainly a departure
from the fine mahogany trim in my (imaginary) Rolls Royce but presentable
nevertheless.

its useless electrically. I've got a collection of populated and
unpopulated boards that I'll turn into some sort of artwork one day. Cast

It's best to use a separate resistor for each device, because one could
easily hog current from the other due to mismatching and aging. Is your PCB

[neonixie-l] INS-1 current limiting resistors

2020-06-16 Thread Nigel
Hi

I was going to use 270K resistors with my INS-1s with an 180v supply.

As I want to use them in pairs as the 'colons' in my Nixie clock project,
I'm now thinking about using them in parallel with a 150K resistor. That
would save me space on the PCB. Does this sound ok ?

Thanks

[neonixie-l] Re: Ecaterina Nixie clock project

2020-06-16 Thread 'Bogdan Paduraru' via neonixie-l
Dear Martin

thank you very much for your response
I am aware of the polish nixies and have just bought 2 pieces of each LL-
556, 557 & 558 but the LL-555 which would contain the missing letters is
not available at the moment ; and to be honest I think the Burroughs are
far more beautiful the the polish ones ..

I also bought 2 pieces of B-6092 , a little bigger than the B-5018's ,
maybe I will use them somehow

Maybe some of you nice people have some nixies as spare , I am open for any
kind of trade .
Stay safe and healthy
Bogdan

[neonixie-l] Re: Ecaterina Nixie clock project

2020-06-16 Thread Dekatron42
The Burroughs Nixies with letters very rarely turn up on eBay, but the
Polish LL-555, 556, 557 & 558 are somewhat more common so my suggestion is
that you look for those on eBay.
