Can anyone identify this part? Part of a board that has one input and 8
outputs.

Re: [neonixie-l] Re: IN-8-2 Anode wire broken

2023-03-24 Thread Jasper nagle
Hello I’m thinking you might be able to 3d print a spacer if you have a 3d
printer then glue it to the tube then put some conductive glue in the hole
in the spacer where the pin is missing and then stick the pin in there that
might help the little wire not break off again too

Re: [neonixie-l] Are here any good small alarm clocks for use on night table?

2023-03-24 Thread Dekatron42
Thank you for all comments, had hoped for a few more though.

It seems that most Nixie clocks nowadays are for showing the Nixies
themselves and not for use as alarm clocks.

The hunt goes on and I might cobble something together myself with the help
from some kit.

Yes, I think you are correct, most people who buy or built nixie clocks are
not looking for an alarm, but some are!
I will have new firmware for my pair of clocks that adds an alarm function,
I need about another week :)

Is that a SOT8 package?

I've found these sites to be helpful:

http://www.marsport.org.uk/smd/mainframe.htm
https://www.s-manuals.com/smd
https://smd.yooneed.one

Many other similar sites.

[neonixie-l] ScopeClock and GPS

2023-03-24 Thread MichaelB
I have assembled one of the above, but have been unable to get the GPS to
work. Has anyone had any luck with this and if so, what GPS receiver did
you use? I ordered the recommended one, but received the BU-353N ( supposed
the replacement for the no longer available BU-353-S4) and it wont work.
Have not been able to get hold of David for help. Wondering if he's on
vacation?? Thx in advance

Hi Michael. I have the BU-353S4 on mine and it is working fine. However,
the clock does not display anything until it gets a GPS lock as far as I
can tell...

OK then. There must be something unique about that older puck. Is it the
5Hz version? I notice that one is 115,200 baud vs the more common 4800

Re: [neonixie-l] ScopeClock and GPS

2023-03-24 Thread 'Phil' via neonixie-l
Hi Michael, I'm also using the BU-353S4 on mine and it's working fine too.
I believe that the software that David ships with the clock is looking for
a 4800 baud rate with one NEMA message string update per second. Anything
else is not going to play well. The code is on github ( SCTVcode/SCTVcode
at main · nixiebunny/SCTVcode (github.com)
 if you want to
verify that for yourself.
